It&#8217;s demonstrated here by Mike&#8217;s daughter Tessa <img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/tesselephant.mov\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li><strong>Drone movie of our house &#8211;\u00a0<\/strong>using my friend Henry&#8217;s drone, we made this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0LTMXXtTHlg&amp;feature=youtu.be\">cool movie of our house .<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.studiojuju.com\/2018\/09\/24\/the-season-of-the-roundest-moon\/\"><strong>Season of the Roundest Moon\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>This is an interactive collaboration I did with my friend Jenn Karson for the Illuminated Forest . It&#8217;s a 3D sensor attached to a small hanging sculpture. A projected 3d image rotates as viewers spin, tip and pay with the hanging sculpture.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Play Machine<\/strong> &#8211; consulted on and curated this project run by Ogilvy around IBM&#8217;s tumble page <a href=\"http:\/\/ibmblr.tumblr.com\/post\/102458202346\/the-play-machine-its-alive-the-targets-been\">see http:\/\/ibmblr.tumblr.com\/post\/102458202346\/the-play-machine-its-alive-the-targets-been<\/a>\u00a0 This was a device that physically showed social media activity in a fun visual and physical way. It used some of our IBM infrastructure.\u00a0 Here&#8217;s a summary video that Ogilvy did <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/127095937\">https:\/\/vimeo.com\/127095937<\/a>\u00a0we won a <a href=\"http:\/\/webbyawards.com\/winners\/2016\/social\/social-content-and-marketing\/education-discovery\/play\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Webby<\/a> for this work in 2016 !<\/li>\n<li><strong>FIRE !\u00a0<\/strong> I love anything related to fire and have built many flame effects include this <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/h3CNB0NDOhw\">Reubens Tube. <\/a>this <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/0_WGv6phpww\">Cremora and Pyrodex smoke ring<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>SPORT &#8211; <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/lD7yGjCwYh8\">chemo-port protector for sports<\/a>. I designed this with my friend Jake Blend to help our young friend Storm as he works his way through Leukemia. This device which is 3d Printed from carbon fiber reinforced PLA allowed Storm to play baseball and basketball while getting treatment .<\/li>\n<li><strong>Astronomy &#8211;<\/strong> i&#8217;m an avid but very\u00a0amateur astronomer with a celestron 8&#8243; Schmidt-cass . Here&#8217;s a movie I made of a <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/RyLh7Ld6ek8\">partial solar ecplise <\/a>in our back yard.. well.. actually the solar eclipse itself was a bit further away than that, but you know what I mean \ud83d\ude42<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/eclipse17d.mp4\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li><strong>Eel<\/strong>: I lead a team that built a 30 foot touch sensitive light-up keyboard for Mike Gordon, the Bass Player from Phish. I designed and co-built the device for the Mike Gordon band which toured it around the US in the spring of 2014 . You can see write-ups on the piece in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/2014\/03\/mike-gordon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Wired<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/gothamist.com\/2014\/03\/02\/video_mike_gordon_lets_audience_pla.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>, and on my <a href=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/2014\/03\/31\/sunday-night-catch-up\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">blog<\/a>.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/07\/eel.mp4\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nI then\u00a0helped my freind Colin\u00a0 with a new version called the\u00a0<strong>Reel&#8230;\u00a0<\/strong>you can see it <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/p7HRcyRprhQ\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Floorish<\/strong>: A team of us created an<a href=\"http:\/\/cargocollective.com\/user-required\/John-Cohn-Maxwell-Cohn-Eric-Hall-Colin-Brahmstedt-Ken-Howell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> interactive light up floor piece called <\/a>&#8220;Floorish&#8221;\u00a0 for the City of Burlington Firehouse Gallery\u00a0 as part of the <a href=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/2013\/04\/12\/thursday-night-user-required\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">User Required <\/a>Makers show. \u00a0 . It uses two Kinects to track folks movement in light and allow them to play games like Pong with their feet. The work was supported by a generous 100k$ grant from Google. The device <\/span><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: sans-serif;\">mechanicals were built by a firm in California, but never worked. I lead a small team to redo all the mechantronics. While the unscripted show was pretty goofy, it did have lots of maker content. I was called &#8220;john c&#8221; or &#8220;the professor&#8221; and was responsible for most of the shows more technical builds. The show did well on TV and has been in reruns for several years. . However lame the show was, I still get a huge amount of pleasure from the many emails and city street ids where folks tell me they dug the technical content of the show . I was also invited back to the shows second (and final) season as a technical advisor.
