Long hard day at work. Glad it's Friday. Dan is out of town so it was just Gabe and me tonight for dinner. We went to Mexicali which was really fun.<\/p>\n

I came home looking for some recreational hacking. I've been working on some sports hacking stuff for work and one of the things we needed was an integrated heart sensor that was lightweight. I don't think we can use this for work, but I decided to build one. I have a small pulse oximeter that I bought. I interfaced it to a Bluetooth low-energy Arduino clone called and RFduino.<\/p>\n

I then wrote some code that read the sensor and converted my pulse into beats per minute. I didn't have time tonight to write an iPhone app to receive it so I used another iPhone app I had that is used to display temperature. So what I got was an iPhone app with a thermometer that showed my heart rate. It works really well. Not bad for an hours worth of work.<\/p>\n
