I found myself on<\/p>\n<p>a plane heading out to Reno NV. OK, so it wasn\u2019t<span>\u00a0 <\/span>a complete surprise.. Yesterday afternoon my<\/p>\n<p>brother and I hatched a schemed to go out and catch the last 2 days of Burning<\/p>\n<p>Man at Black Rock City. Billy and I have talked about going before.. but I had<\/p>\n<p>made up my mind not to go this year because of\u2026 well\u2026 because of everything.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019d spent so much time and energy helping Homer and co. get ready for the trip<\/p>\n<p>to Burning Man that I\u2019d worn myself out, neglected my family and let stuff go<\/p>\n<p>in various other important corners of my life..<span>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>that<span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/span>I decided about 4 weeks ago that I wasn\u2019t going to go this year.<\/p>\n<p>Deciding that lifted a huge burden from me.. I wasn\u2019t dreading the prep, I<\/p>\n<p>wasn\u2019t feeling as bad about the time away from family, etc.. I still had<\/p>\n<p>several weeks of working on the Burning Man vehicle.. but even that came easier<\/p>\n<p>when I knew that I would be free of the stress (and of course the fun) of<\/p>\n<p>going.<span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>But then.,. .. I<\/p>\n<p>Billy offered to help out on the plane tix,<span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/span>and sealed the deal by reminding me that going out there together would<\/p>\n<p>be a life long memory and<span>\u00a0 <\/span>good hang out<\/p>\n<p>time for the two of us.. I was also wondering\/worrying how Homer and the crew<\/p>\n<p>were doing on the TimeCycle .. I know they\u2019d gotten this far without me.. but I<\/p>\n<p>still felt<span>\u00a0 <\/span>considerable<span>\u00a0 <\/span>ownership\/pride\/responsibility for this crazy<\/p>\n<p>project.. . Add on top that there were some other friends out there I was eager<\/p>\n<p>to see Mary, Raye, Ben,<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Carlyn, Meg,<\/p>\n<p>Peter, Jerry, Whit, Gadget, Scarlett,<span>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Around<span>\u00a0 <\/span>noon yesterday afternoon, Billy and <span>\u00a0<\/span>I decided we were going to do this. <span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>I checked with Diane and Gabe.. and they were<\/p>\n<p>ok with it.. so Billy\u2019s friend and Admin Sharon found us the plane tickets.. but<\/p>\n<p>there was still one hitch.. Burning man tickets were no longer on sale online<\/p>\n<p>.. and the walk up sales ended at 6 pm yesterday.<span>\u00a0 <\/span>It seemed there was no place left find<\/p>\n<p>tickets.. and they have a strict no ticket.. no entry policy at Black Rock.. no<\/p>\n<p>matter how far you\u2019ve come.<span>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>We ran out<\/p>\n<p>of ideas for a bit.. then I started looking online.. there\u2019s a thing called<\/p>\n<p>eplaya<span>\u00a0 <\/span>where Burners tlak about the prep<\/p>\n<p>for the event\u2026 There were tons of other folks there looking for tickets.. and<\/p>\n<p>only a few folks offering them.. most of them single tickets for physical pick<\/p>\n<p>up in far off cities.. and most of those already gone.. I was about to give up<\/p>\n<p>when I saw a note only a few minutes old from a couple in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019d just gotten married and had hoped ot go to Burning man as part of their<\/p>\n<p>honeymoon. .. Well.. that hadn\u2019t worked out..<span>\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/span>I\u2019ll spare you the long story.. but I talked, texted and emailed<span>\u00a0 <\/span>with them on and off<span>\u00a0 <\/span>through the night and managed to<span>\u00a0 <\/span>transfer the tickets to us (Thanks Eva and<\/p>\n<p>Rick !) \u2026so <span>\u00a0<\/span>That\u2019s hoe I find myself<\/p>\n<p>about an hour out of Reno ,<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>So.. now I\u2019m<\/p>\n<p>trying to figure out if I should congratulate myself for making this all work<\/p>\n<p>out at the last minute.. and following my bliss and doing this very cool<span>\u00a0 <\/span>spur of the moment trip.. or beat myself up<\/p>\n<p>for not sticking to my decisions and running from responsibility\u2026<span>\u00a0 <\/span>Actually,<span>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/span>I think I\u2019ve just convinced myself not to think about it much at all..<\/p>\n<p>and just enjoy it..<span>\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>What do you think ?<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">..\u00a0..<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">OK.. landing soon.
