We had all been thinking about this day for months\u2026 dreading it even .<span style=\"\">&nbsp; <\/span>As it turned out, it was a fine day. There were tears, sure.. but there are tears <i>every<\/i> day. Diane and I talked about how the anticipation before an event like today often seems to be worse than the event itself. Diane was well cared for today\u2026 everyone who knows her knows that she is a wonderful mother.. and a wonderful person.. for the<span style=\"\">&nbsp; <\/span>last several days she&#8217;s been getting cards, calls, visits and packages from friends all over the place sending her love and support.. it helped so much. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span>We began our day with a big crepe breakfast.<span style=\"\">&nbsp; <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/may07\/May1307007.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">We lit the candle we always light to invite Sam into family celebrations and dug in.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/may07\/May1307015.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/may07\/May1307012.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"> The hats in this picture came from <span style=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span>Scott and Mary who found them in an abandoned Chinese themed amusement park in <st1:state><st1:place>Florida<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> this week.&nbsp; <span style=\"\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/may07\/May1307013.jpg\" \/><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span>Just as we were finishing breakfast Avery showed up. Followed soon by Nate, Hannah, Ian, Matt, and Sumner. The kids had come up with a plan to visit Diane around lunchtime\u2026 our breakfast time\u2026 They even brought lunch with them.. It was a really nice surprise for Diane. <span style=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span>Gabe then lead Diane and the rest of us up to the bell tower. He told Diane that her traditional Mother&#8217;s day flowers were up there.. When she got up there, there were just two little potted flowers.. Gabe then told her to look out the window.. Gabe <span style=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span>had arranged all the annuals we&#8217;d bought <span style=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span>yesterday into a heart on the front lawn.. Here&#8217;s what it looked like from 55 feet up \u2026<span style=\"\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/may07\/May1307023.jpg\" \/><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\">&nbsp; <\/span>Max made Diane a very cool rainbow prism which hangs on a lien covered with beads in the color of the Chakra&#8217;s. I welded her three small birds that spell out &#8216;MOM&#8217; .<span style=\"\">&nbsp; <br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/may07\/May1307138.jpg\" \/><br \/> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span>The rest of the day was really laid back.. lots of friends came by to give Diane a hug and hang out with us.. it was great having so many folks filtering in and out. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/may07\/May1307038.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/may07\/May1307056.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/may07\/May1307054.jpg\" \/><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/may07\/May1307066.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/may07\/May1307087.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/may07\/May1307132.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\">Norine&#8217;s came by after her studendts piano recital. It was deadicated to Sam.. here&#8217;s soem fo the cake..<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/may07\/May1307133.jpg\" \/>&nbsp;  <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Diane got some time in the garden which was her wish for the day. We all spent most of the day outside which was wonderful.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/may07\/May1307061.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Around <st1:time minute=\"30\" hour=\"19\">7:30<\/st1:time> we all went up to the Townsends for Hannah and Matt&#8217;s 15<sup>th<\/sup> birthday..&nbsp;&nbsp; We stopped at Bolton to get Ralhps hat.. there&#8217;s still snow up there !<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/may07\/May1307109.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/may07\/May1307112.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Dinne at the Towwnsends was great ! Yet another party !.. Deb had made some hand filled cannoli&#8217;s in lieu of a birthday cake.. yum !<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/may07\/May1307125.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/may07\/May1307128.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"\">&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/span>Around 10 Gabe, Max, Scott and Mary went off to see Spiderman.. while Diane and I zoomed home to begin frantically packing for our trip tomorrow. The four of us are going <span style=\"\">&nbsp;<\/span>to an IBM thingy in <st1:city><st1:place>San   Diego<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> for several days. It&#8217;s not usually for kids.. but we all wanted to stuck together.. and IBM&#8217;s been really accommodating. After <st1:city><st1:place>San Diego<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> we&#8217;re stopping in <st1:state><st1:place>Kansas<\/st1:place><\/st1:state> to see our niece <st1:city><st1:place>Elizabeth<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> graduate from nursing school. Scott and Mary are going to stay here and look after Chai\u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"text-indent: 6pt;\">Well.. we have to wake up in 4 hours\u2026 so I better pretend to get some sleep.. Happy Mother&#8217;s day to all you mother&#8217;s out there. Hug those kids tightly.. Being outside today was very healing for us.. it always is.
