Beautiful blue skies, brilliant leaves, clear<\/p>\n<p>air&#8230; I only need one day like this a year to remember why I live<\/p>\n<p>here. It filled me up. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Diane and I decided to make the<\/p>\n<p>most of the day and head up to Richford to See our friends Lucy and<\/p>\n<p>Victor.. and friend Beckett who&#8217;s up visiting from&#8230; (where ? .. Ct ?)<\/p>\n<p>Lucy, Beckett and Diane are old yoga buddies.. all limber and grounded<\/p>\n<p>people.. So we did what grounded and limber people do when they<\/p>\n<p>congregate.. we took a hike&#8230; !. <\/p>\n<p><\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/oct1109\/oct1109003.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div align=\"left\">Lucy<\/p>\n<p>and Victor live in a beautiful place in Richford right on the Canadian<\/p>\n<p>border.. by right on.. I mean that you can walk out their back door and<\/p>\n<p>into Canada.. If you don&#8217;t get caught by one of the patrol<\/p>\n<p>helicopters..\u00a0\u00a0 <\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/oct1109\/oct1109005.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<div align=\"left\">As illustration, the pond is in the US.. the trees behind are mostly in Canada.. <\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/oct1109\/oct1109011.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div align=\"left\">Our<\/p>\n<p>hike took us down a sunny road past some ponys that had recently moved<\/p>\n<p>in with Lucy&#8217;s neighbors. (n-n-n-n-neigh-bors !) Their previous owner<\/p>\n<p>was very ill.. and had not been able to care for these guys.. as a<\/p>\n<p>result their mains were now in dreadlocks.. a cool look for them !<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/oct1109\/oct1109019.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div align=\"left\">We<\/p>\n<p>squished through some wet fields to a VAST snowmobile trail.. then out<\/p>\n<p>into some brilliant pastures.. it could not have been more beautiful..<\/p>\n<p>of course&#8230; it&#8217;s hard to capture on a small camera that is covered by<\/p>\n<p>dust from the crud in your pocket.. but here&#8217;s my attempt. <\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/oct1109\/oct1109029.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div align=\"left\">Here&#8217;s victor, diane, becket and Lucy .. <\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/oct1109\/oct1109032.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div align=\"left\">\u00a0I found this sign pretty funny..\u00a0\u00a0 <\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/oct1109\/oct1109048.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div align=\"left\">I<\/p>\n<p>enjoyed looking down as much as I enjoyed looking up.. we went through<\/p>\n<p>patches of mostly brown leaf litter.. then mixed red, orange and<\/p>\n<p>yellow.. then mostly yellow.. .. the soun and smell is uniquely fall. <\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/oct1109\/oct1109049.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/oct1109\/oct1109053.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/oct1109\/oct1109054.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/oct1109\/oct1109059.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div align=\"left\">I put a samstone in a tree with a nice leaf backdrop.. Being in the woods always makes us feel closer to Sam.. \n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/oct1109\/oct1109063.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div align=\"left\">We lost the trail, bu tcame upon and abandoned orchard.. I<\/p>\n<p>think you can get arrested for doing that.. but..\u00a0 \n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/oct1109\/oct1109007.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div align=\"left\">Diane suggested it would be a good place to put a samstone.. in the no-man&#8217;s zone between the two countries.. \n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/oct1109\/oct1109086.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div align=\"left\">Here it is.. my left foot is in canada.. my right in the US.. now.. how do I put that on my map ? \n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/oct1109\/oct1109087.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/oct1109\/oct1109089.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div align=\"left\">We headed home around 4&#8230; here&#8217;s camels hump as we began the drop into Richmond where we live..\u00a0\u00a0 What a great day&#8230; \n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/oct1109\/oct1109094.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div align=\"left\">We had a wonderful surprise waiting for us when we<\/p>\n<p>came home. Our friend Peter had sent us a song he&#8217;d written as part of<\/p>\n<p>his song writing camp this summer. It&#8217;s about Sam&#8217;s passing.. It&#8217;s a<\/p>\n<p>really beautiful piece&#8230;\u00a0 It means so much to me that he&#8217;d write this<\/p>\n<p>for Sam.. and for us.. it&#8217;s called..
