We’re staying at Jen’s folks house on the Cape<\/st1:place> (South Harwich<\/st1:place>).. Her parents are really nice. I got here around 11:30 a;last night after a nice quiet ride down.<\/p>\n

Diane got us up at 6AM<\/st1:time> to walk to hike down to the beach for morning yoga. It was a great way to start the day.

<\/span>We got back to the house in time for me to take an 8:30<\/st1:time> work call. The cell signal is so bad, If I moved my head it dropped the call.   <\/span>I had to prop my cell phone on the window cell to get enough bandwidth to use my computer.
<\/span><\/p>\n

  <\/span>I took the rest of the day off which was really nice.  <\/span>We packed up a ton of food and piled into two cars and headed up the cape. <\/p>\n

 <\/o:p><\/p>\n

First stop was Marconi beach. The site of the first commercial transatlantic wireless station.  <\/span>There wasn’t much left of the original site.. but there was some cool signs  <\/span>describing what the site once looked like.   <\/span>The ocean had eroded most of the site off the map.. it was quite pretty. We saw a bunch of seals playing in the water right off shore. <\/p>\n

His circuits (It was a big rotary sspark gap tesla coil that evidently could be heard working from more than 4 miles away)<\/p>\n

I’m fascinated with the story about Marconi. Many kids are taught that he invented Radio..  <\/span>In fact, that story is incorrect. According to the Supreme Court  <\/span>of the USA<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>, Nikola Tesla invented Radio. They overturned Marconi’s  <\/span>patents in 1946, claiming that Marconi’s work infringed on Tesla’s 1888 work in Colorado<\/st1:place><\/st1:state>.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

From there we took the half hour drive to Provincetown<\/st1:place><\/st1:city> I’d never been there\u2026 and didn’t know what to expect. It was a much bigger town than I’d imagined. Our first stop was to eat our picnic in the parking lot where we parked. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

From there we took the 170 step climb up the Pilgrims<\/st1:placename> Monument<\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place>. This place commemorates the first landfall of the Mayflower.<\/p>\n

It was a great hike up. The view from the top was gorgeous.. as was the breeze. It was a perfect place to put a few SamStones. <\/p>\n

After taking in the view, we all trucked down the tower and headed into ‘downtown’ P-town. It was wicked  <\/span>hot, packed with people and was unlike anything I’d ever seen before. Very colorful and diverse. <\/p>\n

We popped  <\/span>in and out of some of the wild stores along the main street.<\/p>\n

Eventually we had enough of the crowds and piled back in the car and headed down to Nauset beach to let the kids do a little boogey boarding. The waves were amazing. We didn’t stick around much because the water was freezing..

We headed up to Brewster beach to watch the sun set. It was an amazing place.  <\/span>When the tide goes out, the water recedes over a mile. We walked out on the flats to the edge of the water to skim board. The kids were really good at it. <\/p>\n

As the kids played, we went out and brought back pizza which lasted about 4 minutes. I’m glad I got my hands out of the way\u2026<\/p>\n

The day was really nice\u2026 really, really nice\u2026 It was just missing one very beautiful kid\u2026 Oh my Sam\u2026  <\/span>sometimes having fun is really hard.<\/p>\n
