His reasons for going are his own.. I can just say that I and \u00a0will miss working with him very much. He has been an inspiration to me and many of my colleagues.. He&#8217;s a big thinker with sometimes \u00a0controversial ideas.. .. \u00a0His different ideas have often gotten him.. and more recently me .. in trouble with others.. but\u00a0he\u00a0\u00a0reminds me that it&#8217;s not always best to think like everyone else..<\/p>\n<p>I saw that Paul&#8217;s leaving was <a href=\"https:\/\/gigaom.com\/2015\/01\/13\/the-guy-behind-ibms-blockchain-tech-for-iot-has-left\/\" target=\"_blank\">picked up in the press<\/a> as soon as it was announced..<\/p>\n<div id=\"main\" class=\"row\">\n<div id=\"body\" class=\"small-12 columns rendered\">\n<div class=\"main\">\n<div id=\"postloop-47\" class=\"post-page widget-post_loop- widget clearfix widget_postloop\">\n<article id=\"post-906248\" class=\"post-906248 post type-post status-publish format-standard has-post-thumbnail hentry category-uncategorized tag-block-chain tag-blockchain-2 tag-blockchain-technology tag-cloud-infrastructure tag-internet-of-things Arrayclearfix post-no-comments thumb company-bittorrect company-github company-ibm company-samsung clearfix title-starts-with-T post-page-article has-featured-image go-post-standard featured-image-focus-top\">\n<header class=\"head entry-header\">\n<div class=\"head-inner\">\n<div class=\"featured-image-info in-header\">\n<div class=\"featured-image-attribution\">\n<div class=\"attribution\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"attribution\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/Screen-Shot-2015-01-13-at-10.32.16-PM1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"667\" height=\"340\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"attribution\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"attribution\">a few quotes from that article caught my eye\u00a0(Stacy.. Brody is also the man who was spearheading a really interesting technology idea that combined Ethereum\u2019s blockchain-based decentralized platform and programming language with BitTorrent and some code called Telehash to create an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gigaom.com\/2014\/09\/09\/check-out-ibms-proposal-for-an-internet-of-things-architecture-using-bitcoins-block-chain-tech\/\">entirely new framework<\/a>\u00a0for building software for the internet of things.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Stacy then goes on to describe the demos we ran last week<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The CES demonstrations involved a washing machine that would re-order its own detergent and a distributed marketplace for advertising that were \u201cworking perfectly,\u201d Brody said in a phone interview Tuesday. The next steps will be designing a scalable version of the architecture \u2014 hopefully, something IBM and Samsung will get done within the next four to six weeks.<\/p>\n<p>Brody won\u2019t be at IBM to lead it, but he said John Cohn, an IBM fellow, and Veena Pureswaran, global electronics industry lead, will continue with the project, as will folks at Samsung. Meanwhile, keep your eyes open on Github for the Adept white paper explaining how the blockchain proof of concept demonstrations shown at CES work. They make for some awesome reading.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<aside id=\"hidden-sidebar\"><span id=\"ad-b-bookmark\"><\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"go-ads-25\" class=\"widget clearfix widget-go-ads layout-box-insert layout-box-insert-right\">Paul has left us some big shoes to fill.. but this project we started is really interesting\u00a0.. We have very far to go.. .. this is still research. First job is \u00a0to line it up with the stuff we&#8217;re currently doing . but the path we&#8217;re on could really make a difference in the world in the future .
