We rewarded ourselves by taking one of our favorite dog hikes.. We asked Hannah to drop us at the place the Long Trail crosses the Notch road.. and we we walked back home.\u00a0 We love that trail because it has steep parts, even parts, views, streams, ponds, berries (often) animals (not so often) and great rocks..<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/trail.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2549\" title=\"trail\" src=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/trail.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"700\" height=\"681\" srcset=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/trail.jpg 700w, http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/trail.jpg 300w, http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/trail.jpg 205w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 474px) 100vw, 474px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>like this interesting pile . Ok . so it isn&#8217;t a naturally occurring one.. but we always take a few samstones up there to drop for the through hikers.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/jul0911\/IMG_2253.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We took most of the hike at a quick pace for exercise. We stopped a few places to let the dogs cool off. One of our stops was our favorite beaver pond.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/jul0911\/IMG_2256.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Diane took advantage of the stope to pull the ferns out that had gotten stuck in her toes.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/jul0911\/IMG_2262.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s an impressive three level beaver dam here.. its a little hard to see all three.. but these are long and strong constructions.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/jul0911\/IMG_2263.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/jul0911\/IMG_2265.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/jul0911\/IMG_2266.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Next stop was the ckiffs overlooking Bolton and camels hump..<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/jul0911\/IMG_2267.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/jul0911\/IMG_2275.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The heavy rains had left a bumper crop of interesting &#8216;shrooms..<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/jul0911\/IMG_2280.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/jul0911\/IMG_2282.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/jul0911\/IMG_2293.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/jul0911\/IMG_2297.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>and even a few early blueberries.. and raspberries .. yum !<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/jul0911\/IMG_2283.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>THere was a ton of storm damage there.. this huge tree\u00a0 was just snapped off by the wind..<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/jul0911\/IMG_2290.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Just before the final descent you come out into a panaramic view of our valley. if you squint.. you can even see the roof of our hous.e.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/jul0911\/IMG_2301.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Thene there&#8217;s a long uncomfortable scramble down the thorny path home..
