This was the man to whom all things were known; this<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <em>was the king who knew the countries of the world. He was wise, he saw mysteries and knew secret things, he<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <em>brought us a tale of the days before the flood. He went on a long journey, was weary, worn-out with labour,<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <em>returning he rested, he engraved on a stone the whole story.<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <em>When the gods created Gilgamesh they gave him a perfect body. Shamash the glorious sun endowed him with<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <em>beauty, Adad the god of the storm endowed him with courage, the great gods made his beauty perfect, surpassing all<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <em>others, terrifying like a great wild bull. Two thirds they made him god and one third man.<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <em>In Uruk he built walls, a great rampart, and the temple of blessed Eanna for the god of the firmament Anu, and<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <em>for Ishtar the goddess of love. Look at it still today: the outer wall where the cornice runs, it shines with the<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <em>brilliance of copper; and the inner wall, it has no equal. Touch the threshold, it is ancient. Approach Eanna the<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <em>dwelling of Ishtar, our lady of love and war, the like of which no latter-day king, no man alive can equal. Climb<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <em>upon the wall of Uruk; walk along it, I say; regard the foundation terrace and examine the. masonry: is it not burnt<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"> <em>brick and good? The seven sages laid the foundations<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>At dinner tonight, Gabe was reading the Epic of Giglamesh.. a 4700 year old story of a King who was 2\/3 G-d.. A smart guy with a perfect bod,, well traveld lost a good freind and spent time mopng around worrying about his own mortality.. A rreal regular guy.. except perhaps the 2\/3 G-d part .. Reading the stilted\u00a0 verse over my diner\u00a0 i wondered if the author of this epic ever intended his words carved in a stone in a dessert nearly 5 millinea ago to be read with a slightly burnt grilled cheese, a glass of sweet white wine .. and soem 5 day old soup that tasted like the sea&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m addressing this to you ..
