The Argentines put it in or on everything.. and it really was delicious. I&#8217;d never heard of it.. but it reminded me of the &#8216;Leche Quemada&#8217; we used ot get in Mexico.. that translates &#8216;burnt milk&#8217;.. and it turns out.. that&#8217;s just what it is !. Our freind Julietta is from Puerto Rico.. and she just gave us her grandmothers secret recipe for making dulce de leche . You start with a can of sweetened condensed milk.. You peel off the label..<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/nov1511\/IMG_6577.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>and drop it in a pan of cool water&#8230; then you turn on the heat.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/nov1511\/IMG_6567.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>you boil the thing\u00a0 vigorously .. unopened (!!) for an hour<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/nov1511\/IMG_6569.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>then you let it cool a bit (we were impatient).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Then you open it.. and voila.. Dulce de Leche.. instead of condensed mile. you have this golden creamy goo that&#8217;s amazingly sticky and yummy..<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/nov1511\/IMG_6578.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/nov1511\/IMG_6580.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>the final test was to try it with ice cream<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/nov1511\/IMG_6581.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>ironically.. or fittingly.. all we had was &#8216;dulce delish&#8217;.. a flavor based on dulce de leche..<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>it was a little differnt than argnetina.. but plenty good.. and almost magical to make..<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/nov1511\/IMG_6582.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\ntry it yourself.. it brings a little sweetness to a part of the year that needs it..<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>at last for us it does..<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>nite all, nite sam<\/p>\n<p>-me<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cool experiment tonight.. last Summer while Gabe was in Argentine , he\u00a0 fell in love with a sweet glop called &#8216;Dulce de Leche&#8217;.
