{"id":334,"date":"2009-03-22T13:38:00","date_gmt":"2009-03-22T17:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/2009\/03\/22\/spring-has-sprung-at-the-us-open\/"},"modified":"2009-03-22T13:38:00","modified_gmt":"2009-03-22T17:38:00","slug":"spring-has-sprung-at-the-us-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/2009\/03\/22\/spring-has-sprung-at-the-us-open\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring has Sprung at the US Open"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"pBlogBody_478326852\" class=\"blogContent\">\n<p>Hi John!<\/p>\n<p>Gabe &#038; I returned from the Burton US Open late last night.\u00a0 Well, it wasn&#8217;t all that late..just too late to write.\u00a0 As a matter of fact, we emptied the car, hugged the dogs, and went to bed.\u00a0 Sue and Dylan invited us again this year.\u00a0 Sue is great with figuring out all the details of what needs to happen when.\u00a0 She is amazing.\u00a0 We had a great time.\u00a0 I loved my talking time with Sue.\u00a0 Gabe loved his boarding and goof off time with Dylan.<\/p>\n<p>The crowds seemed less this year and the party scene felt a bit quieter.\u00a0 Maybe the economy?\u00a0 It still was heavy in the steez factor.\u00a0 I was the only person with a fleece head band and down vest (until Jane B. showed up).\u00a0 I did have Gabe&#8217;s old torn blue Burton jacket so I wasn&#8217;t too far off.\u00a0 My favorite activity was crowd watching.\u00a0 I enjoyed watching the dynamics of families and kids.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>We arrived Friday morning and Gabe &#038; Dylan took off riding.\u00a0 Sue and I visited the publicity tents and then went for a snowshoe.\u00a0 Both days were sunny and beautiful&#8230;a real Spring feel&#8230;actually it felt passed the beginning of Spring.\u00a0 We spent the late afternoon watching the quarter pipe event.\u00a0 This was right below the half pipe.\u00a0 It was awesome to watch.\u00a0 Big air was part of it.\u00a0 Gabe reminded me how scary it must be because you are riding down fast into what looks like a wall of snow.\u00a0 I won&#8217;t go into the body hits some of these athletes endured.\u00a0 You would wince several times.<\/p>\n<p>After the quarter pipe we stayed for the boys to watch the RJD2 concert.\u00a0 They had interesting and disturbing old &#038; new films playing while the DJ played the music&#8230;or created the music.\u00a0 The crowd was younger at this point.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday we dragged the boys out early so we would get a good parking place.\u00a0 That was not even really needed like last year because they were still parking in the same lot an hour after we arrived.\u00a0 Still is was good to get there early.\u00a0 Again the guys took off and we shopped, ate and sat in the sun watching the half pipe finals.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>Oh, I did stop by the High Cascade tent and talked to Matt who was the counselor in Gabe&#8217;s chalet 2 years ago.\u00a0 Nice guy.\u00a0 It was good to talk with someone from there.\u00a0 Most other camps you stop in and say &#8220;hi&#8221; at the end.\u00a0 This one ends with most kids getting on a plane.\u00a0 Gabe stopped over later to talk with him.<\/p>\n<p>So that was our weekend.\u00a0 Right now it is snowing and I woke up to an inch of snow on the ground.\u00a0 Now I am going to unpack from the weekend and take the dogs for a walk.\u00a0 Gabe will probably head up to Bolton.\u00a0 Here are some pictures&#8230; <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 466px; height: 349px;\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/IMG_0491.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 421px; height: 315px;\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/IMG_0495.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Gabe, Dylan &#038; Sue.That is where Sue &#038; I enjoyed the sun while we watched.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 380px; height: 284px;\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/IMG_0497.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 366px; height: 273px;\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/IMG_0483.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 402px; height: 301px;\" src=\"http:\/\/i147.photobucket.com\/albums\/r319\/johncohn\/IMG_0487.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Well I am off.\u00a0 Talk later.\u00a0 love&#8230;diane\u00a0 <\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi John!
