Clean Slate… a great phrase.. a fresh start<\/p>\n

in our life ? Well maybe, but I mean that that’s what I did this<\/p>\n

afternoon.. .. clean slate.. as we helped our friend Chris\u00a0 prepare<\/p>\n

pieces of slate\u00a0 shingles for sandblasting..\u00a0 <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u00a0Chris<\/p>\n

makes these things into beutiful ornaments\u00a0 He’s getting them ready for<\/p>\n

the Vermont Artisanans Open Studio day and needed a few eextra hands..\u00a0<\/p>\n

My job was to use an air hose to blow off any chips of slate before their masked for sandblasting. <\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

It<\/p>\n

was so cool watching the thin sheets of slate come flying off under the<\/p>\n

force of the air hose. Each of those sheets represented a layer of mud<\/p>\n

sediment layed down on he bottom of soem body of water eans ago.. how<\/p>\n

cool is that ?\u00a0 <\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

It was mindless. noisy and satisfying work. It was really gratifying to get to the bottom of the slate container.\u00a0 <\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Here they are , ready to mask.. <\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Meanwhile<\/p>\n

Gabe worked on applying the rubber masks that pattern the sandblasting.<\/p>\n

Gabe is really good at this sorty of fine work.. <\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

Chris<\/p>\n

showed us the jar of used exacto blades he’s gone through over the<\/p>\n

years.. He says that every one he’s every used is in either this jar or<\/p>\n

an even larger oe he has in his shop !<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

While<\/p>\n

Gabe and I worked with Chris on the rocks, Diane helped Kim weed one of<\/p>\n

their many gardens.. It felt good to be useful !.. <\/p>\n

It’s always<\/p>\n

cool visiting chris and kim.. they have soe much interesting stuff..<\/p>\n

here’s Chris’s artistically done firewood stacks <\/div>\n

his current in construnction sculpture project, mineral springs II. \u00a0<\/p>\n

It’s a beutoiful copper and brassfoot treadle poered shower. It’s<\/p>\n

really amazing\u00a0 <\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

The shower head is an old army helmet !<\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

We each took a turn on Chris’s zip line to finish our day.. <\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

I noticed a Sam button in Chris’s work area.. been thinkign of him all day.. <\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

OK.. only 9 PM .. but I’m fading fast. Must get some sleep.. More tomorrow.
