I recently reconnected via Linkedin with a friend, Jim K, who retired from IBM a year or so back. He&#8217;s now working at his Alma Mater Purdue. I mentioned yesterday that my grandfather Maxwell Ettlinger attended Purdue. I never got to meet my grandfather as he died in 1952 when my Mom was in college. This morning Jim sent me the following two pictures he found of my Grandfather.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/maxe1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4395\" title=\"maxe1\" src=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/maxe1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"344\" height=\"615\" srcset=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/maxe1.jpg 344w, http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/maxe1.jpg 167w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 344px) 100vw, 344px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It seems that my grandfather was a frat boy .. A member of Sigma Alpha Mu..\u00a0 a Jewish frat.\u00a0 .who&#8217;s members were called\u00a0 &#8216;Sammy&#8217;s\u00a0 ..\u00a0 I&#8217;m not certain, but I think my Dad was also a Sammy.. I&#8217;ll check ..\u00a0 It&#8217;s so cool seeing Max like this !<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/maxe2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"maxe2\" src=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/maxe2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"612\" height=\"475\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One other cool factoid. Maxwell Ettlinger married my grandmother\u00a0 Minnie Lowenthal..
