{"id":45987,"date":"2017-08-16T23:53:38","date_gmt":"2017-08-17T03:53:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/?p=45987"},"modified":"2017-08-16T23:53:38","modified_gmt":"2017-08-17T03:53:38","slug":"wednesday-night-new-old-friends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/2017\/08\/16\/wednesday-night-new-old-friends\/","title":{"rendered":"Wednesday night &#8211; New old friends"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Day started erly with meetings.. but managed to take off in the afternoon to meet up with &nbsp;new old friends. &nbsp;We know &nbsp;Kim and Kathy &nbsp;from more than 10 years ago&#8230; but have recently reconnected. Kim is the Dean of Undergraduate Research at MIT and the founder of the Edgerton Lab. &nbsp;He rund DLAB which sends students to countries in need to teach making skills to solve local problems with local skills. I want to get more involved with that .&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Kathy is a multitalented educator who currently works in communicating about the public health implications of Climate change.. They live in Lexington Ma.. nd also have a house in Rochester Vermont about an hour south east of us. Kim and Kathy are up for a couke of weeks so we drove down to take a hike and catch up.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>we hiked Rochester Moutnain.. whcih was a short sweet hike to the top with views tot eh East over New Hampshire.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IMG_0488-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IMG_0486-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>the trails were wet from last nights rain..s o the frogs and toads were happy !<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IMG_0490-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IMG_0492-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IMG_0495-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>there were memorials to several young guys a the top.. &nbsp; with signs of memorial gatherings.&nbsp;<img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IMG_0496-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IMG_0498-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IMG_0516-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>we added sam to the party&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IMG_0502-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>the views ot the east were really nice..&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IMG_0504-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/IMG_0509-1.jpg\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>we then walked &nbsp;back down for Pie at their sweet house.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Kathy showed us the amazing DNA\/RNA\/Protein synthesis teaching kits that she and Kim hd developed. they &nbsp;started with Lego.. now they use custom injection molding and wonderful instructional material that Kathy develped..
