Happy New Years everyone !<\/p>\n

Just home after a very nice and quiet new years celebration in Richmond.. <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

we spent the morning doing new years eve-y stuff. cleaning up after the holidays, putting out gifts \"\"<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

waiting for the fake slug to drop <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

taking down the christmas tree <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

‘smudging’ the house with sage..  to cleanse it.. I walked every inch of the house spreadign the fragrent sage smoke to start the new year with a fresh house<\/p>\n

(I know it looks like a joint.. but it’s not \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

check out the shape of the ashes that fell as I was doing it.. Thank Sam !<\/p>\n

sam is always on my mind on days like this.. so I replaced the strings that hold my Sam pendant\"\"\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

reordered my shirts by color (hey.. what ?!?.. thats neurotic !) <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

we never did get outside.. it never got abouve 0 F today.. andwith the stuiff wind we had, the wind chill was about -20 for much of the day <\/p>\n

it’s a balmy -9 F (-23  C) and getting much colder through the night<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

we finally ventured out at around 6:30.. we stopped and had a bite and a beer at Stone COral then drove (too cold to walk) down tot eh COngregational CHurch (aka the COngo)   for their annual New Years Eve folk concert bemnefit for the Round CHurch.. We heard one of my favorite bands.. Cricket Blue.. <\/p>\n

the crowd were all folks our age.. like a sea of frosty white hair.. its was beautiful . vermonters have such a wonderfully worn and healthy look … like nice old furniture. <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

oen of hte acts tonight was by two young musicioans.. the boy was 10 and the girl was 13.. they were really very good. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

the concert ended with patti casey,, who’s a favorite off mine.. <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

we left there.. and on the way I saw one of my favorite ‘drunk octopus wants to fight you’ hangers.. do you se it ? <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

we headed back to Stone coral for another beer and a visit with friends. they had a great band tonight .. <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

on the way home from there we stopper ad Jen and Tims  to welcome in the new year..  Marie and Luke were there too as were ted and his family . <\/p>\n

\"Sunday<\/p>\n

here we are jsut at midnight .. becoming 2018ers <\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

heard from the kids about then too ! I so love those boys !<\/p>\n

we watchewd about 30 seconds of the NYC scene just to confirm it was indeed the new year <\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

and I took a medicinal swig of A1 to make it official <\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

now we’re home.. trying to warm up the house…<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

thinking abotu the year that just was. SO much is being said of all the bad stuff that happened.. and indeed it did.. politics, violence, natural disasters.. but there was lots of good as well.. at least for us..<\/p>\n

I think the older I get.. the more I view the world as ‘neutral’.. good stuff and bad stuff always happen.. but the world just ‘is’.. <\/p>\n

soemthing to ponder as I go get my first nights sleep in 2018..<\/p>\n
