I always love stopping there not just because they're wonderful people… But because Dave is always up to something interesting and new. Today was no exception. I got my first look at Dave's masterpiece: the bendulum . It's a completely custom designed clock that uses a upside down pendulum which is a flexing piece of steel. Hence 'bendulum' the timing is set by the period of the flexing metal. Just like in a pendulum but upside down. A sensor gives the pendulum a quick kick every time it flexes through the center to keep it moving. It's a very simple and elegant circuit. Dave designed the movement, clock face and the case which was built by a friend. It's really a work of art.

<div class=separator style=clear: both; text-align: center;><a href=http://johncohn.org/base/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/wpid-Photo-Jul-22-2013-727-PM.jpg target=_blank style=margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;>

<div class=separator style=clear: both; text-align: center;>

Speaking of works of art, David and Jean are also part of a project to help restore that we damaged photographs from the actual disasters.
