{"id":863,"date":"2009-03-04T05:27:00","date_gmt":"2009-03-04T09:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/2009\/03\/04\/town-meeting-day\/"},"modified":"2009-03-04T05:27:00","modified_gmt":"2009-03-04T09:27:00","slug":"town-meeting-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/johncohn.org\/base\/2009\/03\/04\/town-meeting-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Town Meeting Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div id=\"pBlogBody_474449593\" class=\"blogContent\">\n<br \/>Hi John&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>It is late.\u00a0 I was out for a meeting and need to get to bed.\u00a0 No pictures today&#8230;the camera is taking too long to load.\u00a0 I guess it wants to go to bed also.<\/p>\n<p>Nice last day of vacation for Gabe.\u00a0 He went up to Bolton on a sunny crisp (4 degrees at the top) day.\u00a0 It was beautiful and had nice powder.\u00a0 He got quite a bit of snowboarding in this break.\u00a0 The weather had been perfect for riding.\u00a0 I keep expecting Spring temperatures yet it is still quite cold.\u00a0 It is -1 as I write.<\/p>\n<p>I had a few talks with friends today about dentists.\u00a0 I really think dentists are the unsung heroes of present time.\u00a0 Okay there are many heroes.\u00a0 But just think about how far dentistry has come&#8230;and how no one really makes a bit deal about the value that they add to our lives.\u00a0 To think that I had a broken tooth and in a half of day I walk out with it repaired.\u00a0 Just think how valuable that would have been 200 years ago.\u00a0 Yes, I know Little Shop of Horrors is what people think about and make fun of&#8230;talk about a missing ad campaign.\u00a0 The technology is amazing and the skill level of the technicians is superb.\u00a0 Still, no on likes to sit in the chair and having your mouth open is intrusive.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>I had fun trying to decide what to do while my mouth was open.\u00a0 At first I thought &#8220;do I try and be in the moment?&#8221;.\u00a0 No, that went out quickly.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know many marathoners who relished being in the total moment feeling each step of their feet and every breath they take.\u00a0 Yikes&#8230;that would be a long run.\u00a0 I then looked upward and to the side.\u00a0 I remembered reading somewhere that by doing that eye position you lessen your experience of trauma.\u00a0 That got boring.\u00a0 I then would look at his arm moving and make my eye cross a bit and morph the size of his arm.\u00a0 That was the most fun.\u00a0 Then I looked at the stucco type ceiling and wondered about painting it and could I find shapes in it.\u00a0 I also practiced relaxation techniques starting at my feet.\u00a0 I never got past my knees&#8230;and I tried a few times.\u00a0\u00a0 Then I tried to find all my bones and just relax them.\u00a0 At that point he was done and I never really settled on what I would do.\u00a0 I had fun trying yet have no real suggestions as to how to pass the time while your mouth is gaping open.<\/p>\n<p>I went to Marcie today.\u00a0 Yeah.\u00a0 She helped unstuck my jaw.\u00a0 She is awesome.\u00a0 We had fun talking.<\/p>\n<p>I then stopped in at Town Meeting to vote at 2:00.\u00a0 They were still going strong.\u00a0 Wow.\u00a0 Democracy at work.\u00a0 I know you like going.\u00a0 I think you would have enjoyed today.\u00a0 It really isn&#8217;t for me.\u00a0 I am so thankful that others are passionate and interested in town politics&#8230;or just in the workings of the town.\u00a0 Thank you to all that make a difference in Richmond.\u00a0 I appreciate it.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p>Sleep well John.\u00a0 love&#8230;d\u00a0 <br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi John&#8230; It is late.\u00a0 I was out for a meeting and need to get to bed.\u00a0 No pictures today&#8230;the camera is taking too long to load.\u00a0 I guess it wants to go to bed also.
