Thursday night – I dropped my pen….

Interesting mix of a day.. I worked at home.. since Diane and I were taking Max and Jaclyn back to NYC.  That was a new plan as of last night.    I broke for lunch and reached for a jelly bean in mid-sandwich. (don’t you usually ? ).. Anyway, to both Diane and my surprise, most of the jelly beans that were left were licorice… Yuck…. Yuck.. Yuck.. Especially wit a pickle and tomato sandwich. But.. Diane loves licorice best.. Isn’t cool how folks love different stuff..

Mid afternoon, Diane, Max, Jack and I crammed into the Prius and headed south  We got down to Chappaqua  and dropped Max and Jack at the Metro North station.  I  That meant that Diane and I didn’t have to drive all the way into the city.. which was a relief.  We got the kids some food,  hugged them and said  goodbye It was so good having them up this week.

It was about 8PM by that point.. there was just enough time to go and intercept Larry, Leah.. and some of the  folks from IBM. They were all gathered for a CMU review. Leah had ordered some food for us.. and it arrived just as we sat down.  Everyone else had eaten.. but they hung out and had desert.. It was an unexpected pleasure getting to catch up with the CMU folks and the IBM folks…

I took advantage of the international nature of the crowd to do a little linguistic field work. Those who read this  blog often know that I always record folks saying

“I dropped my pen in the mashed potatoes”

Here it is in Austrian German, Mandrin, Tamal and Connecticutish

OK.. All for now.. Back to Vermont tomorrow morning.
