Thursday evening – couch potato

Greetings from my couch. Aside from an hour snowshoe this morning with Diane and the dogs, I don’t think I’ve left this couch all day. We’ve had a nice swirl of people coming through the house all day..so I’ve had lots of folks to talk to … I also managed to clean out my email in-basket, finish off some work loose ends for 2009 and finish a college recommendation letter  for a kid I interviewed. None of that required getting up from the couch…  I can’t rememer ever having a lazier day..

Isn’t that wonderful ?!

Hope everyone else is relaxing…

Nite all.. nite Sam

ps. Saw this recording of one of the 21 interviews I did yesterday. it’s SO creepy watching myself.

5 new technologies: Improving your life: MyFoxBOSTON.com

Back in Vermont..  after another whirlwind trip down to NYC. This one was to take max and friends back to the oat for new years.. and for me to do some media interviews for IBM. I  did about 12 short interviews with TV and radio stations around the country about IBM’s predictions of cool technology innovations we expect to see in the next 5 years.  I like doing anything like this that gets the public more jazzed about technology and science.  Doing these interviews was a great experience .. it gave me a new appreciation for how hard it must be to put together a daily new broadcast. In between interviews I got to talk to some of the really nice folks at the studio..   One bones to the day is that I . got an earier start home today because our last interview (Fox news) got moved to toorrow. A friend of ine will have to do that one..

OK.. .. so I didn’t have my camera for today.. so I have a bit of a backlog from the trip.. here are a few shots from the lasrt 2 days

Yesterday morning.at the reakfast counter.. We had quite a crowd spending the night..

Max, Scott and I headed own to NYC around 11.. followed by another car with Mason Annot and Pat..

We had a good time on the way down.. We took turns choosign the music. Here’s Max’s innovation for choillign some of our warm sodas.. hang it outside the car from a wire. it worked great !

The snow in the city was amazing.. look at this along 678 !

The oat got comepletely coverd with snow.. In some places the doors weren’t enough to keep the snow out.. here’s the front of the shop !!!

Around 8 I headed in to Manhattan to have dinner with my friend Eric.. He was one of the producers of the the first Colony season.. It too me only 15 min to get 90A% of the way to the mid west side.. the last mile took about 40 minutes due to the huge piles of snow.

Eric was there waiting. We had a great thai meal and enjoyed catching up.

I stayed on the lower east side.. I got to the studio this morning around 7.. then did back to back interviews until about 1..As soon as we were done I grabbed my car and drove back to the bot.. it was amazing seeign the snow and ice in daylight.

We all went out to a great middle eastern place for lunch..

the scott and I headed north while the other guys walked back to the boat.. again.. getting out of the city was nuts due to the huge piles of snow !

Scott and I had a great drive back.. good music, great conversation. .. He’s such a good guy…

I dropped him at his house around 9:30.. then went straight home.. There was another party going on.. it was so great to see people there  at 10 PM.

Now. I’m in bed and falling asleep.. i think I better end here… more tomorrow… sure is nice to be home.

Nite all, nite Sam .

Tuesday night – forgot my camera

Hello from 35 floors over midtown NYC i’m in town to do some media work for IBM.. I came down this afternoon with Max, Scott, Abbot, mason and Pat in a two car caravan. It was amazing to see the snow pile up as we headed further south. Unfortunately, the pictures will have to wait until tomorrow. i seem to have left my camera in the car downstairs..

We got to the oat around 6.. unpacked then I  came back into Manhattan. I met up with my friend Eric.. who was one of the production guys on the Colony. We had a great time catching up.. .. Again..  pictures will have to wait for tomorrow..

Well.. without pictures.. not much more to report.. I’ve got to wake up really early tomorrow..and I’m not feeling too hot right now  (fever.. I think) .. so I’m going to make this a short post.

Wish me luck tomorrow !  I’ll tell you all about it..

Monday night – better

I was driving back from Jericho tonight.. it was snowing hard, it was dark  I realized as I turned down one of the long dark runs on that road that I wasn’t sad at all. … I wasn’t in a  particularly good mood. In fact,   . .. I was preoccupied,  as I often am, with work stuff..I was frustrated about  a project I was working on.. I was even worrying a bit about a talk I had to finish .. but nowhere in there was a speck of sad. Now  that might not sound like much.. but for the past four years.. being alone in a car at night meant being sad.. .. a deep kind of physical sad.. so much so that I took it for granted.. like a sore tooth, It was always there.. I just lived with it.. It was such a strange thing to suddenly notice…. Not sure what it means.. I’ probably giving it too much thought already…

so I’ll stop here..
