You can tell it’s getting to be the holidays.. freinds are back in town from school. Around 6:30 folks started drifting in to the house just to say high.. yoga friends , Gabe’s freinds .. and a bunch of Sam’s old friends just somehow all showed up together. .. no particular reason.. just a Monday night after yoga and somehow we had 11 people for dinner. it was wonderful just like old times.. I love the holidays for that.
it realy helps make the holdiays brighter for us.. thanks for dropping by !
Ahhh.. home sweet home. We’re back after a very nice whirlwind visit to Diane’s folks.. Always good seeing them .. The one mishap in an otherwise perfect stay was that I managed to put my bluetooth headset in the wash. .. I tried to pull it out and dry it.. but.. no dice. wouldn’t be so bad.. but this is at least 5th that I’ve ‘processed’ in this way in the past 3 years or so. .. Come to think of it, I’m pretty hard on all of my portable electronics. I just retired my 5th blackberry… This one was still working when I took it out of service.. the other 4 were not so lucky… And. I’m now on my 4th .. no 5th… portable camera.. The first was eaten by the desert at burning man, another got was lost in the snow, another got jammed.. … These things need to be made to be washed. and dropped.
The trip back from endicott was sunny and uneventful… we listened to a good Freakanomics podcast on how people make decisions called There truth is out there.. isn’t it ? . I love this show as oyu always come away thinking a little differently after you’ve listened. The main premise I liked in today’s podcast was that we rarely use research and facts to form a personal decision.. instead, we often use our research to help reinforce the opinion that we want to support. In fact, the more educated a person is , the more likey he or she is to have an extreme view on a subject.. The more we dig, the more black and white things become to us..
or red and green.. as we now see the Richmond Bridge that welcomes us home painted.. They had to stop mid paintjob for the winter.. leaving us with a seasonally appropriate mixed paint job.. hohoho !
The rest of the day was a pleasant drift.. We all went to Gabe’s last indoor soccer league game.. the season playoffs.. and wudja beleive it .. they won !!!!
OK.. not much more to report.. just trying to stay warm. it’s 9 degrees F and dropping outside.. guess it’s really almost winter !
Scary movies… I have zero tolerance. I shielded my eyes at Bambi (as an adult). What am I todo when everyone Im with wants to watch insidious, the scariest movie since the exorcist?
I guess Ill sit in the kitchen and blog on my phone
Scary movie aside, its been a lovely day… 9 hours of sleep.. Some tv ( A rare treat for us) , a nap, a run.. picking up Max and Jak , . a visit to Dianes uncle armond, a Christmas dinner with Dianes family.then a visit t o Linda and davids’.. All the makings of an ideal start to the Xmas vacation Season
tryingm to erdit on an unfamiliar machine here.. so I think I’ll leaeave this as stream of consciousness.
Gabe and I just made it to my inlaws house in endicott my. Its a 6 and a half hour drive. That can feel pretty long if youre not creative about how you spend your time. Gabe and I spent the last couple of hours making up weird scenarios and tried to match them to music on his iPod (youre a wasp with a cold, your an alien from the future who accidentally teleports into the womans room of a department store, youre the last potato chip in the bag,you just found out that the president is a robot, etc)
What really keeps us going is the thought of Romas pizza. Its a weird sort of cold pizza. Kinda gloppy… Really yummy .
There are many places that make that kind of pizza. You can tell much about someone from the endicott/Binghamton by whos pizza you like best. Nirches, brothers three,… And of course Romas is best
I dare anyone to disagree !
Note all, nite Sam
