I had an early morning meeting downtown, then came back and worked at home all day. It was a great day to work in the bell tower . it was cool with bright sun. So cool in fact that all of the wasps that normally hang out in the tower were staggering around like drunken sailors. They were landing on my head and on my feet and on my laptop. After about an hour of that I stopped jumping every time one landed on me. See their stingers but they were in no mood to sting. They're actually fun to watch… They kept me company in fact One even landed in my tea and then lazily pulled itself out and flew away.
Drink… Or not to drink?… I drank
As the afternoon wore on the, air got warmer and the wasps got more lively. I swear one of them that landed on my leg just woke up two it's Waspy Ness as soon as it warmed up . it realized that it needed to defend itself. and had to brush it away before it stung me…
At that point, I realized there were more of them than me and they had Just a few weeks before the air gets too cold for them and they did whatever wasps do during the winter… Which I don't think involves survival.
I decided to leave them at peace and went downstairs and did my work. In their honor I lazily buzzed around the warm room in the bright sunshine spinning slowly and trying not to sting anything as I talked on the phone.
Night, night Sam
