Thursday night – echo location

Tonight we showcased the light project we’ve been working on at Echo. It’s the brainchild of Travis C. the IT guy at Echo. He conceived the project and drove the whole thing. I’m so impressed. We ‘unveiled’ it on WCAX tonight. I’m wondering if anyone recorded it.. because I’d love to see it

10,000 LED’s 1,000 watts.. and infinite possibility !

We had a little team celebration after the launch. Nick brought champagne ! My hats off to Travis, Nick and Sean for doing most of the heavy lifting on this very ambitious project !

Afterwards, a quick trip to Generator for their meetup on wearables .. lots of fun folks there !

Wednesday night – bending the rules

Last night Dianw and I agreed that we would not indulge in potato latkes for Chanukah until i finally put away my laptop for the year and took some time off..

Today we agreed that technically speaking we could have latkes before that.. just not ‘potato latkes’.. hence the big delicious pile of zucchini latkes for dinner.. We haven’t broken the rules.. just defined them a bit better 🙂

Speaking of bending the rules.. I took my lunch time to drive to Weybridge to meet with the entire student body of Weybridge Elementary for some random acts of science.. First they gave me the required payment (one grilled cheese sandwich.

Then we had some good science fun.. I love doing this more than almost anything else !

Tuesday night – Chappy Chanukah

Oy veh.. i’m busier than a <insert your favorite busy analogy here>.. End of year stuff for work, and play have me chasing my tail again.

One nice punctuation is that tonight is the first night of Chanukah.. a rather minor holiday for my people recently pumped up to try and approximate christmas.. We don’t do that.. we do light the candles and say the ancient and cryptic blessing.. ..

the real meaning of this holiday is political.. not religious…..

no let me correct that.. the real meaning of this holiday is culinary.. !.. It’s all about the Latkes baby.. .. you eat them with sour cream, salt, ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, apple sacue.. any kind of sauce.

my stomach is growling for them right now..

Diane is offering me a really good incentive to finish off my year of work.. We get latkes when I finally can close my computer (or at least my work computer) for the year..

that’s a tall order when I see all that I need to get done first..

but latkes are just the incentive that I need.

Monday night – old friends

Busy day .. Everyone trying to tie up loose ends for the year. Going out with a bang not a wimper.

I had quite a shock today when i learned that a. Freind of mine.. Aamer S. Passed away unexpectantly during the US thanksgiving break. He was 40 years old. I had been workign with Aamer very closely for the previous several weeks… We had beers together just a few weeks back .. Still cant believe it..

Later in the day, i got the chance to meet up with soem other old friends?.. And some new ones. My freinds Jim, Dale and Dale's wife Alice invited me and my friend Tony to visit them at Wake Robin.. Wake Robin is an amazing place.. Which hias independent living ,assisted living and long term care.. It's an amazingly vibrant place..

We had a really great dinner.. Both in food and conversation. Dale, Tony and I go wayyyyy back. Dale is one of the fathe rs of microelectronics.. He and our friend Bob created the sceince behind what most folks call Moores Law.. Tony is a fabulous Analog diseign guy.. And Jim is a self proclaimed Nerd. I like them all so much
