I had a much needed day off today.. i took the dogs for a run up honey hollow which felt great… (i was more into it than they were). Around 11 my friend Colin came and picked me up and we went out for lunch. Colin lost his job in the latest cuts and is now trying to figure out life post IBM. We ended up at a Chinese place in Williston where I encountered Tofu dish number 1 of the day.. a really good General Tsao’s Tofu from Asian Bistro.. Yum
Colin dropped me at UVM in time for the 1 PM state basketball finals. it was MMU vs. rice.. and lets just say.. it didn’t end well for MMU. Still it was almost fun.. It seemed liek both teams were tying to put an orange ball through a circle.. and they kept repeating it. I t is amazing what people find to do for fun.
Form there I dropped by Generator to check out the new laser cutter.. no one was there at first, but eventually Matt and Christy wandered by.. The opening is now the end of March due to permitting.. it’s sure taking us a long time to get started.
I came home just long enough to turn around and go pick up diane for dinner with Luci … our target was Pho Dang.. but they were full, so we wandered across the street tot Namaste.. a new Nepali/Vietnamese place across the street. it was really great !!!!!! .. We had a veggie soup that was really nice. That was tofu meal two !
ok.. gotta get some sleep.. gabe has a 6am flight..
Back from a mostly unplanned visit down to Boston to see my folks. Got a fair amount done while down there. Spent time with dad in the hospital again.
Managed to cram most of the day's work in on the drive back from Boston. Very excited about work right now. And almost lost my voice given how much I was talking on the way back.
Came home to a lovely quiet house… With no plans for the night. Just what i needed !
Starting to goof off as soon as i finish this
I just did 🙂

I'm down in Sherburne again… Checking in on my folks. My dad is back in the hospital. I went and visited him today which was hard. It's tough to see him uncomfortable
My cousin Leslie and her husband Bret were there which was great. I haven't seen them since my brother's 50th birthday. It was so nice catching up with them. Leslie has an amazing memory and remembered all the times we pulled her pigtails as a kid… She seems to have forgiven us though.
Leslie had this great picture on her phone. It's a picture of my grandmother, Madeline, my father (on the left) and my uncle bird (on the right). There's a birthday cake on the table. Judging by the six candles, it must be my father's birthday, As he was the younger. It's great getting this picture of him as a smiley kid.
Nice to have in my mind right now. That's it for today Michael, night Sam
Today is Ash Wednesday. It's always been a mystery to me.the tipping point between the craziness of Mardi Gras and the long slog of Lent. I'm not a Christian. So I've never observed it directly. But I've observed other people observing it. I remember the mystery of seeing people with smudges on their forheads when I was a kid. It was is mysterious to me as our weird fasting and crazy candles were to others.
I like the idea of Lent though. It is giving something up. I think this Lent I'm going to give up something really interesting like cranberries or tire chains.. Or arsenic… Or maybe i will give up a letter.. Like the letter ' '. (Rhymes with sn'w)
That's it n' m're letter 's f'r the rest 'f the m'nth. W'w this is harder than i th'ught it w'uld be. Its hell 'n the spell checker that's f'r sure .. This is g'nna be t'ugh !
