I was working at my desk on the second story of our house today.. The tower is too full of flys which always happens on these last warm days of fall..

I was sitting there typing away and talking on the phone.. when I looked up.. there was bradley.. 25 feet up staring in the window !

he was up there helping with the last touches of the house painting. scraping and cleaning the windows.. He helped his dad and their freiends kevin and eddy and jon as they painted this huge house. They did such a GREAT job..

Tomorrow I’ll try to get some pictures.. it’s really a work of art.. I’d recommend them to anyone.. if they can do this house.. they can do anything !

stayed up till 3:30 working last night.. so started off the day pretty grumpy. Trying to get some stuff going for work and making slow steady progress… didn’t notice the time..

 

9:30 came pretty early.. but managed to get up anyway.  Gave cane by with friends george and noah.. they had a weird plan for putting on wet suits and jumping off things into cold water..

by 10ish diane, deb and the dogs and I were heading towards little river.. was pretty preoccupied by work.. but once there.. the beauty of fall took over.. we did about 4 miles up in the old rocker mountain settlment. Deb had never been. it was fiun showing her some of the old cellar holes, cemeteries etc.

we even saw some new stuff.. like an old silo be we’d never seen

 

the sawmill was our first stop.. so amazing to think that 300 folks worked here less than 100 years ago.. it’s pretty remote now 

 

there was a cool new geocasching thing in the old boiler. we put a smstone in there

 

this school was working until 1921.. now its just a rock celler hole

 

heres the old well.. dropped another samstone down.. i put one here every year

 

here’s the silo base.. i’d never seen that

 

phebe.. 100 years old.. wow !

 

spent the rest of the day (and night working) .. getting a little burned out..

thank goodness for getting outside !

Beautiful day.. and a medium long hike in bolton valley.. it’s definitely peak foliage this weekend.

so very  grateful to live in a place  like this !
