saturday night – Marty

We’re down in Dennisport Ma to attend the funeral of our good friend Jen’s dad, Marty.. .. Marty died 2 weeks ago at age 85 from Alzheimers..   Diane, Deb and I came down last night, stayed with my mom.. then came down to the cape for the service today and reception afterwards. I was glad to be here. Marty was a fun guy wiith a big loving family. There was a good crowd at his Mass.. I’ve bene to so many Catholic funerals in recent history that I have a good portion of the mass committed to memory.. it felt good and comforting..

There were seen great stories about Marty.. including how much he loved being in the cranberry parade dressed up every year.   Here he is as Carmen Moran-da

We spent the afternoon and evening with Jen and her family. .It was great hanging out with them and hearing more about their life  with their dad..

It as Jen’s birthday today.. crazy juxtaposition

Later that afternoon.. we checked into our very nice hotel.. the breakers in Dennis.. Diane and deb went out to the beach with Jen and Tim.. I went to sleep (fighting off a sore throat)

on the walk diane and Deb saw this seal !

Around 6 we headed to Jen’s sister Sal’s for dinner.. that mean another birthday cake for Jen !

one gift was a great 8th grade photo of jen.. looks pretty close !

ok.. can’t keep my eyes open any longer. More tomorrow 1

Friday night – artsy

Greetings from sherborne.. Diane, deb and i are at my moms. Were on our way down to jens dads funeral tomorrow. We stopped by to see my mon on the way. I was aboe to get a decent amount of work done in the car on the way down.. The trip was made mor fu. By a few stops to drop off debs wonderful shortbread at a few food coops. It was very cool seeing deb work. She’s done such a great job building a brand.

We got to my moms ground too… Had a quick lunch and then headed into town to the museum of fine arts in boston.. I don’t think I’d been there in more than 35 years!. I had a work call so I hung out in the car for a while but then I went and met up with the girls in the museum. I loved the contemporary stuff they had.

Thursday night – inspiration vs persperation

Had lunch with my old friend Peter today. He was recently-ish made a fellow at his company (Synopsys). Today he was reflecting on the Edison quote perspiration success being 10 % inspiration and 90% perspiration.. It got me thinking.. I get the part about the need to work hard to make an idea successful.. Ideas are cheap.. Ifrequently come across situations at work where someone thinks once pery have the idea.. the thk is done.. ideas are cheap.. but is it really 10%/90%/.. maybe is 40%inspiration and 60% worldperiation.. or maybe even 50%/50% .. it doesn’t make for such a pithy quote.. i know….

I’ve been pondering this for the last couple of days because i’m trying to dialing in how much brainstorming, vs how much ‘work’ (building, coding, complaining about coding, re-codeing, rebuilding etc) .. I thiways tend to err on the side of too much of the former.. and not enough on the latter.. on the other had.. life gets alsossivly less fun the less of the former I do..

hmmmm  .. gotta brainstorm on that for a bit 🙂
