Sunday night – walkabout

Diane and I had a really wonderful day in Munich.. Its the first time I (or we) have ever really explored the place. We woke at 9am after 11 hours of much needed sleep.. then went for about a 4 mile run.. and got lost… running around the horse park areas in the outskirts of the city…  It was great getting out.. there was a bit of blue sky an some snoww on the ground.. felt good to move our bodies.

We came back. cleaned up and headed out at around 1-ish… It’s very easy getting around here with the Ubhn and S-bahns  .  As we rode.. we saw some signs of the trouble with the influx of refuges..  germany has been very open about its borders and has taken in nearly 1,000,000 refuges.. but its causing internal strife.

our first stop was the Pinkotech modern museum.. really great collection !Lots of classic design examples.. even some IBM stuff !

then  I took diane up t the site of the new IBM Watson IoT HQ.. Its going   to be in these amazing buildings

from there we headed over to the English Gardens.. we winet though the North Cemetery to get there. it was such  beautiful and peaceful spot

\

the English gardens are huge and beautiful. we walked in there for more than an hour

Saturday night – blick aus münchen

Hello from Munich !. Diane and I are staying in my usual hotel.. The Prinzrgent .. it’s really nice and homey and some of the staff actually greets me by name now..

Diane and I got here about 10:30 this morning.. and promptly fell asleep.. the ride over was cramped.. but mercifully short.. not much time for sleeping.. We woke.. and went for a run to better explore the neighborhood. it’s really nice.. though it’s cold and damp like it is as at home

Around 3:30 we took the S-bahn into downtown Munich. Believe it or not.. after being here 4 time in the last 3 months, I’d never seen downtown Munich. It was really fun exploring the place !

we headed down to the vitikulsmarkt (sp ?) and checked out all the shops.. tons for meat, cheese, poultry, fish..

we grabbed some sandiches and sat down with everyone else to eat..

we met this beautiful fellow

we were just by therir maypole.

after our snack, rechecked out some of the higher end food stores.. home made pasta

chocolate everywhere !

then we checked out the stadt museum .. some cool stuff in there

]

outside was a monument to all the jews killed by the nazis.. which  was very different than any other I’ve seen ..

after that.. we did some more exploring

we ended up finding a sampling restaurant that we’d hoped to go to it friends.. but we couldn’t get a reservation.. we snick in before 6OM.. and it worked !

ok.. jet lag really kicking in.. more explorations tomorrow..

right now I need to say ‘scholar gut’ before i drop my laptop again.zzzzzzz

nite all, nite sam
