Hmmmm.. i spent the whole day inside in meetings.. very, very interesting meetings.. but

that prevented me from doing anything else today noteworthy.. i will therefore resort to including an animated gif that our friend Sho sent us…    does that help ?

Busy and productive day in NYC with work. Spent time thinking hard with a bunch of friends. Hard work by rewarding.

after 11 hours of straight meetings i was happy to be out on the street in the cold city air. I walked back to find my car and drove back in to Bkly’n  . First stop was to pick up max at work

 

he was just starting a production run..    a try of future high end phone cases.. 

 

once he’d started those jobs we headed to the House of Yes.. the place that both Max and Becky volunteer.. it’s a really , really amazing venue.. max helped map out the space, designed the lights, etc.

even the bathrooms are amazing.. .. this is over the urinals.. kinda… unnerving !

House of Yes has the most wonderful middle eastern restaurant in it.. .. we grabbed one of the best middle eastern meals I’ve had in a long time.. and I had midwestern for lunch too !

Busy day of work.. managed to break free around lunch for two meetings at the generator. The first was with the local ignite coordinator, Mike S. Mike used to be Burlington’s Chief of Police for many years.. His dad and I used to work together !   He’s working to organize a grant through the Global City Team Challenge to help us launch a city wide LoRa ultra low power IoT network.  .We met to brainstorm on what that would take 

My buddy John has already gotten some Lora stuff working. I leant him one of my gateways.. this is going to be so cool !. It will be fun and useful for scientists, the city .. and for art/mischeif.. can’t wait to have it up and running. it will be both fun .. and a great demo for my work !

 

speaking of work.. I now have my particle electron working through IBM’s IoT blockchain prototype.. It’s very cool to have this stuff connected to the physical world (again) .. more on that in the coming months .

 

had to catch a 6:20 flight tonight.. so Diane dropped me at the airport.. I grabbed dinner at the Skinny Pancake.. where I ran into some friends.. emily, justin and ryan.. and nabbed a heady topper and a yummy crepeadilla for the plane 

 

first stop in NYC was to go visit Max at the shop he works in.. he’s got an amazing job making these high end phone cases, glasses and briefcases. He’s really honed his making and design skills in the process.. I couldn’t imagine a better place for him to be learning this stuff.. I’m so proud of him !

 

we left his work and went to a bar down the street for a beer.. .. the crazies thing had just happened there. A young guy.. early 20’s had just come in and ordered some fancy drinks.. then went into the bathroom and spray pained all over the walls and the doors in this really nice place. .. .. then he pulled a knife on one of the patrons.. really crazy.. 

ironically one of the things he painted was the words “I’m so sorry”.. wow !

 

here’s the guy that had the knife pulled on him.. he knows max.. we had fun talking to him.. one of his claims to fame was that he was on an episode of the walking dead.. check it out

I had a serially social day today.. First .. took a hike with our wise friend James.  He’s been home with the Flu so we decided we’d get  out in the fresh air. He was in to Maple so we visited two super houses, including the sugar on snow event at the Audubon Center.. We took the dogs over to where one of the creeks spills in to the Huntington.. I left a SamStone in the  in the freezing water.

 

 

Got home to find that our friend Dan was still here. Dan went to the concert with us also night and stayed with us last night. He’s up working . Dan and his wife Sara live in Boston now and are good friends  of ours through several circles. It was really good catching up with Dan on life, spiders and computers.

As Dan was leaving, our friend Bob showed up. .. Bob and I had a really nice time hanging out and talking..

Nice to catch up with three such nice guys in one day
