Diane and I are deteremined to soak up as much of this butiful fall as we can. Today we took the dogs on a trip to see if we could find an easier way up tot he beaver ponds on theslope of camels hump. Diane foudn the traill .. and it was an itnerestign walk up.. seetp.. leafy logging road.. deep in the woods. the whole trail soemone or soemthing had dragged something small and heavy. it was such a muystery.. until we came on our neighbors.. and the moose they’d killed earlier this morning as part of Vermonts short Moose hunting season. They have the hunt every year to cull the population.
These guys were up at 7:30.. and lured this moose out with a call.. . They broaght their beutiful work horse up to bring the moose carcass down the mile long steep trail. . The path we’d followed was their horse dragging its chain up to the kill
It was both amazing and hard to watch as the giant horse dragged the dead moose down the trail
We were happy for the hunters.. sad for the moose..
we stood for a moment to let the sight sink in.. and then climbed on to the beaver ponds..
such a beutiful sight.. probably where the moose hung out most of the time.
the walk down was even prettier .. you can see the trail scraped by the moose carcass and the horse.
we got down the hill just as our neighbors finished loading their kill . THey were pretty excited..
we waited a bit to let them get down.. then walked down the road to our car.
then back home.. where we stil have a few flowers even after the killign frost we just had.
goning to sleep now. more tomorrow
nite all,nite sam
