Tuesday night – Meese !

Home again after a really nice family reunion in Wyoming. Went out to pack the car about 6 AM this morning and there was our moose.. only this time.. she had a baby with her.. We learned yesterday not to turn your backs on these huge creatures.. and I’ve always heard they’re even more dangerous when there’s a baby with them.. I carefully loaded the sutcases with an eye over my sholder.. they sure looked more cute than dangerous.. but you never know !

nice to be home !

Monday night – moose!

Last night in the Tetons for now. We had a really nice day here. Today we’re celebrating what would’ve been my dad’s 86th birthday. We took a great hike to Leigh  plate and had a picnic… I’ve got a ton of pictures from that but I’ve been realizing that I don’t have enough bandwidth to post them from here. I promise to go back and fix the last couple of days posts

It’s about 11 PM and we’re about to sit down for a celebratory dinner to remember my dad. We’re making his signature “bachelor spaghetti”…

In honor of my dad both Gabe and I did his favorite trick which was the human flagpole when we were hanging out in Jackson tonight

I do have to tell one important story from today… After we got back from our hike we were all hanging out of the house when my sister yelled “moose”!   Sure enough it was a fairly good size female moose out munching  leaves right outside our driveway.

We watched it for about a half an hour and got… What I now know… Was too close

After watching a while… The moose decided to walk down into the driveway.

My mom was there talking to a neighbor   with her back turned to it. As the moose  started walking towards us we all ran and yelled to my mom to get out of the way… But she was so engrossed in telling her story she didn’t see it. All of a sudden the moose started to run at my mom… I couldn’t believe it… Here was this huge animal running at a full gallop towards my mom… We screamed but my mom was so into telling her story she didn’t even look around.

But my mom was so into telling her story she didn’t even look around.

Miraculously the moose stop about 10 feet short and just wandered off into the woods… We’re sitting there with our mouths open and  my mom looked at us and said “what?”

My mom looked at us and said “what?”

It was the craziest thing I’ve ever seen… All’s well that ends well… But we all learned a lesson

Tell shorter stories 😉

Seriously… It was a end of a very good Long weekend with my family. It’s been nice getting together

here are some more pics from that day i’m adding now a few days later

Sunday evening – davis lake

We left here about 9:30 this morning and drove north to the lupine trail. ..through a wonderful coincidence our friend avery from home was visiting the jackson area. Shes been working at a national park in Idaho this summer.

I’m ur goal was Davis lake.. It was off the trail that lead to surprise and ampitheatre lakes. Davis was not easy to reCh 4 miles up and the last mile was a very steep scramble up mixed size glacial boulders.

It was definetiley worth the hike. The lake was .. Filled with glacial silt that gave it an aquamarine shimmer. It was freezing cold,..  And unlike most places in the area.. Not that busy.. Maybe four other groups of hikers.

We saw a few animals on the way up including this deer

The water was freezing !!!!!

We had a front row view of the teton glacier

Gabe found a perfect place for a samstone

And one more on the way down

On the way down wOne noti on the way down we observed that we had

‘The bear spray in the backpack of raya berenback on a switchback’

Great hike.. I can still feel it in my legs !  Hopefully another hike tomorrow.

Right now lots of cousins running aroun in this beautiful house. Nice chaos
