tuesday night – free falling

down in Boston for a meeting. the first meeting  I’ve been able to drive to in a good long while. I had calls on the way down.. but i also had time to listen to the radio and take in the unfolding news… Tom Petty was the sound track of the day. You porbably know he died last night at the age of 66.. his music was the sound track for my drive as I heard the unfolding tragedy of las vegas.,.

i heard the death toll..  I heard interviews with newly grieving parents.. and I couldnt hold my own tears back. I had a work call with my freind Susan S… and she told me her best froind from colleges son was one of the victims,,’..

and my world slipped a little.

I had to stop and wonder what our world is becoming..   i had to remind my self that the world is really mostly good…

Monday night – Homework

First day working at home in three  weeks. I don’t know what it is.. but even a 12 hour day working from here seems like a vacation compared of working from anywhere else.. jus the ability to  see dane, scratch the dogs, go for a run.. check out the fridge makes everything seem a little easier.

I have more work to do.. but I’m gonna try doing it from the tub…

hope that works

Sunday night – Ben and Hope

Perfect day.. Diane and I found ourselves both awake at 5AM .. for me it was jetlag.. for her.. who knows. but we decided to take advantage of the early morning to hike Bolton Mountain to watch the sunrise.. it was just above freezing when we left home in the dark. we took the climb quickly .. about 45 min.. and got to the top just as the sun was rising.. here’s the view back over toward the house.

there was heavy frost everywhere at the top..

we got up the tower just as the sun was rising

the fog lay heavy in the valleys in the  still cold morning air.. so it looked  like a white ocean

there were three folks already on the fire tower.. they’d camped at the ranger station last night..   5 fo0lks up there was about all it could take.. we really need ot rebuild that tower to make it safe . and last !

heres the view back over to camels hump

i found a chunk of wood that looked like a shofar.. ‘shofar so good !’

we got down.. did some  rearranging  of the house, took the dogs for a run.. about  1pm i was pretty sleepy..  time for a red bull..in a beer mug  i called it ‘Octoberfast’..
