9:15. pm . and I’m just winding down from a work day that started at 6AM. Diane is out of twon so its just me and the dogs.. and with teh exception of one venture out to buy dogfdood we’ve all been withing a 10 foot circle of each other for the full day. It was cold and rainey outside which made it nice to just sit near the fire and work

 

a ten foot circle doesnt make for a very newsy day. oen thing I noted yesterday on the news is that I heard that William Powell, the author of “An anarchists Cookbook” passed away

I remember that book so well.    I have to admit . I learned so many things from pyrotechnics, ‘pharmacology’  to lock picking in that thing.  it was so well researched.

I was reading  up on the book and the man and was really  saddened to hear how many acts of violence traced there way back to that book..I read that Powell himself went thorugh his life regretting having written it

Powell said he was angry and alienated back when he wrote it..was I angry and alienated when I read it?I don’t think so..I think i was just curious

Just back from a night ut with ‘the guys’ .. a group I’ve been getting together once or twice a year for more than 25 years.  think our common thread is a fathers group that one of our wives started for us..  We geenrally get together to pretend to go xmas shopping.. but the last 10 years or so we haven’t done much shopping. we’ve been together  through good times and hard times.. we’ve watched our kids be born, grow..graduate.. marry.. even have their own kids.. They were with me when I need them most after Sam died .

Here’s to old friends.. Love you guys !

Bright, birght sun today.. so bright it hurt my eyes.. ..sun coming through everywhere .. spent the day squinting.

we took the dogs out dfor a hike in the snow at Little river. It was 50 degrees .. the snow was heavy and still pretty deep.. the sun was blinding..

went for a run later in teh day.. then went downtown to meet gabe for dinner..

Today is my sweet Diane’s birthday.  She’s such a wonderful person.. I feel so lucky to be her ‘band.

 

we had a really great day !   FIrst took the dogs for a walk in the 6 inches of new snow from last night,

then got our snowshoes on and took a hike up in bolton valley

we found this cool natural snoball that made itself rolling down the hill

 

i made a naked snow angel (spare you the pictures of that)

 

then madea snowman

then back home for a few hours.

Gabe and his roommates sent diane these beutiful flowers..

 

then we drove to Randolph to see Anais Mitchell and Sam Amidon at the Chandler Music Hall .
