Monday night – cheers

I think I blew a fuse in my brain today…. By about 8:30 PM I just couldn’t work anymore. I still had a full stack of stuff to do… But my brain switched off. In a way, it was a treat. Instead I went to the hotel and ran into my friends. Actually ran into two other friends that I didn’t even know were in town.I felt like a slacker… But it was nice just hanging out

Cheers !

we stopped in the bar at the top for a good long time.. all the stuff (beer, cheese, sausage) was made by the monks !> they know what they’re doing

they even allow dogs (on a leash)

Saturday night – Blaue Reiter

I had a really greta day with my good friend Markus here in Muncih. .. after 9 hours of sleep.. i met markus for a great run in the english garden.. we then met up and headed  to Cafe Tresznjewski near the art museaums for a late breakfast, coffee and of course beer.

We then headed to the Lenbachhaus Museum to see the exhibit on the Blaue Reiter movement. //You msy not know this , but I was a history minor with a specialization in turn of the century Art history and Lit. When I was an exchange stuent in Vienna in 1979-80 , i was first exposed to the art of the Baushus and the Blau Reiter movement. I vividly remember in Ms K-s? Kunstgeschichte  class where I first saw Franz Mach’s blue horses. I was so in to them.. It was really great seeing all the work of Kandinsky , his wife (one of 3) Gabrielle Munter ,Mark, mach, Klee.. The cool thing is that Markus and I signed up for a ‘family day’ tour.. there were a bunch of kids.. so the decent docents were speaking slowly and clearly   which was perfect for my still rough german. I’m so happy when  can fall into understanding german without thinking.

very cool juxtaposition.. someclassical ‘St george’ pictures..

then kandinsky’s rendition !

I’ve alsways seen this paiinitng.. didyou know it’s a guy  ?

theis is gabrielMunter, .. awonderful painter..a nd a great smirk !

this Franz Mach painting is the first painting (or one of the series) than made me fall in love withart..

i’m serious.. i remember the first time I saw it.. it was deeply mooving to see it live.

here are the Blueeiter croud.. munter, mach. marc Kandinsk…\\both mach and marc died in WW1.. Mark only 3 weeks after joing..

WTF ?

the exhibition had this great shadow puppet movie by Lotte Reiniger   it was MASTERFULL !!!

finally a great retrospective of the early 20th centruy film maker Fredrich Murnau. I’ve always loved his Nosferatu.. the best Vampire movie EVER !!!

here’s his Faust

and our buddy Nosferatu

\\

freom there it was dinner time. Markus and Iheaded to Conrad electronics.. then to a German Mexican resturant (yes.. weird)

around 9:30 we went back to work to hack on the cool new drone we baught. By 12L20 we’d figured out how to control it via our computers. a victory for us as hackers.. and a hight note to end the day !

thank you markus fo r ahnging out all day..

thank you freinds for being out there in the world wherever you are..
