Very interesting day..   the main thing we had going  was Honors day at UVM. Gabe’s thesis meant  that Gabe graduates with Honors. which is so cool. He’s worked hard for this and really deserves it !

 

Here we are on the ‘Bolder’.. it was put here in the early 1900

s to encourage a ‘well rounded’ education.. .. lol

Gabe is in something called the Bolder Society 

 

we also visited the UVM catamount

Gabe .. and the rest of us.. were invited to the UVM Honor society because gabe wrote an Honors Thesis.. 

based on his really wodnerful collbaoration with Dr. Jess. Heath.. It

s really helped him figure out what eh wants to do next.. In September he’s starting in the PhD program in Biochemical Oncology at Oregon Health and Secience University in Portland, OR> 

 

when they announced the honors thesis, Gabe ended up right beehind his housemate Ula . 

 

 

 

afterwards we ran into soem freinds like David B..

later on in the day we went to our freind Scouts to a Cougar to Catamount party.. all freinds from Gabe’s high school  class

 

we then walked down ot the lake ot watch the sunset.. it was such gorgeous weather..

spent most of the day at MIT again.. mixing current day job calls with new job..

This mornings sessions were at the Media Lab. FUn to be there considerign I worked in the early incarnation of the Media lab in 1979-81

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

this morning had some great speakers and panels 

 

 

 

at break we traveled to the Samberg building for a quick snack (Fig balls ?!) 

 

and group meetings around themes. I chose the future of work.. 

here is a meetign of the Raspberry pi foundation group.. so muc fun. I thin my comany could help them in several ways. 

 

then a quic  walk over to Grey house, the home of President Reif . for a round table lunch.

This guy was guarding the back door. 

 

 

 

 

it was great getting to know the other guests 

Prof Reif opend the session.. and gave us our brainstorming assignment. How could the Solve Community help buuild Ethics into thinking on AI.

it was a great session. 

I met my mom about 2:30 and we drove bkc to Vermont. Max was already there and cookign when we arrived..

Hello from MIT.. i’m here for work.. and getting to attend a wonderful conference called ‘SOLVE”.. 

 

Solve brings Entrepreneurs and funding together to work on pressing prblems in the world like aging, healthcare, clean water..

the meeting was kicked off by MIT President Reif

here are all of last years SOLVE teams 

 

these three from the MIT Symphony played a beutiful peiece of music composed by Articifical Intelligence !> 

we only learned it was written by AI after hearing it.. I couldn’t beleive it ! it was really beautiful. 

 

then there was this great panel .led my Manoush ZOmadi beteween Eric Schmidt former CEO of ALphabet/Google.. and YoYo Ma whos the artistic director of SOLVE. they discussed many things including how AI contributes to creativity

 

 

next panel had Tom Tayler.. SVP in charge of Amazon Alexa.. Did you know that Alexa was designed ot have a Meyers-Briggs type (ESFJ) 

 

Ohter panl members were very good. we had a tibetian monk from the media lab , a woman from Mozilla and Ursala Burns former CEO of Xerox.

all had good PoV’s on the role of ethics in tech. 

 

then there was a nice reception at the MIT MUseaum. The woman in the middle was a nice person from Fannie may.. on her left is Hala.. a freind of a freind. who helps organize SOLVE

 

I loved lookign around the MIT museum.. sucha  cool place. I love the mechanical art there. 

 

lots of cool robot memorabilia as well 

 

the even had cookies mae of meal worms.. yum !

 

Around 8 I went bacl tot he hotel to meet my Mom who flew in .. she and I are heading back to Vermont togegher this afternoon 

 

we had a nice queit sushi dinner in a noisy resturant 

 

then walkd around MIT,,, 

today I have more SOLVE and more work meetings, then a drive home with mom,

The world is swirling around me but I took some time out to do what I love best. I went and did an 

electricity show at the Bellwether school in Williston. My friend Sue and Mikes kid Tessa goes there 

There were about 25 very cool and interesting kids that I turned on to the beauty of electricity.. 

it felt good to see them all thinking
