Nice quite day.. the big accomplishment was that we dismatled our old skate ramp. We built it in 2009.. adnd it’s served us really well. Gabe and his freinds used it for skating.. and I used it for an office and place to take a nap. If I tlak to you on the phoen ever.. i’m sure once or twice it was with me layong on this, starign at the sky..

bit.. it’s time had come.. the plywood was wet and punky and it had to go..

It took the three of us ony about an hour to take it down to its pieces.. it was actually kinda fun !

 

 

we are saving the nice sign that our freind dorkus  and her grandpa made for us.. it’s goign on the wall of the garage

 

we found soem cool stuff under there.. liek sams old skate helmut (thoguh he never rode on this ramp)

and a box of semi symbolic stuff I want to burn.. ike the phoen that the call about sams accident came in on. im goign to burn that for sure.

and a mosnter critter hoe of some sort. 

pretty soon it was all cleaned off.. and ready to becoem our new blue berry plot !

 

rest of the day passed slowly for us.. and the bugs.. 

 

we took a n early eveng fast hie at libbys lookout.. . the weather was perfect.

Today was the day of the Mount Mansfield Union High School honors award ceremony. Every year since Sam died we go there and present  the “Sam Cohn Musical  Soul Award’ . The award is to honor Sam’s amazing love of music. He could play both classical and head banging with equal ease an energy. . The  award allows the winner to go pick out a guitar or base of his/her choice.. Electric or acoustic.. at Advanced music. The only stipulation is that the instrument can never be used to play eleton john or billy joel.. two bands that sam.. and I .. don’t like . 

during the months before anyone, teachers or student, can nominate any student (aside from themselves) for their love of music. . The nominatiosn are all put in a hat.. then we choose one at random.. to let sam have the final choice. 

 

this year, Gabe made the announcement,, He talked about sam, how he died, , his love of music. and I picked the nomination out of a bowl 

 

the winner this year is this awesome kid Cameron.. he sounds like just the right guy.. he loves music.. and deserves a new instrument 

 

it felt good to give that kind of gift to soemone.. 

it felt good to walk around MMU again.. so many of the teachers wanted to talk to gabe..

 

SUre. .it makes me a little sad when I walk in the door there.. but I have more happy memories there than sad. 

 

Later after a long hard day we all took a barefoot walk down to the river, the mist was thick becaus ethe air had cooled.. it looked pretty cool

Super busy day with both jobs. Managed to knock off at a fairly normal time.. took advantage of Gabe’s being here to help him make Sake from a kit he got last xmas. 

It was pretty easy so far..   its made from white rice. white raisens and white sugar.. 

it’s about  3 month process. so it’ll be fun to watch.. and hopefully fun to drink !

 

first everything for the brewing gets sterilized. 

 

then we diced up the white raisons 

 

rinced the rice 

 

then bagged the raisons and rice in muslin and tied it up

 

then we added warm water. 

 

a wilde yeast inhibiter. 

 

and two poinds of domino’s finest 

 

then a little acidifier  stuff ? 

 

then seal it up for 2 days.. when we open to add the yeas t. 

 

on goes the airlock.. now time to wait !
