Late night in Munich… Or Minga as they say sometimes here. Really exciting day/week as we do a major install of a big project at work. It’s both fun and terrifying. So many people have worked on the projects leading up to this. There are so many moving parts and so many people.… I have to say I love them all.
I guess the best metaphor is that my brain is overflowing… And so is my bathtub. (Keeping in the bathtub theme for the week). I’m jumping in. And jumping off.
They really aren’t that many nice perks about traveling as much as I do. One of them though is that I can ask for a bathtub in a hotel room. I’m in the bathtub right now and that is some small consolation about being away from the people and places that I love.
Hello from the Lufthansa lounge at Logan airport .. I was supposed to travel out of Burlington today.. but there was some sort of crazy weather all over the eastern seaboard and a zillion flights were canceled including mine.. and the flight I was moved to. Luckily , our friend Kate had to drive to Boston anyway.. so I rented a car and we drove down together.. I was able to find a late night Lufthansa flight over. .. It was nice having the wextra tiem with Kate.. We’ve really enjoyed having Kate and Steve up with us.
This is an important trip for me.. we’re doing an install on a big multipart project I’ve been working on for the last 6 months.. It’s been crazy.. hard and fun.. the build in this week is going to be challenging.. and (hopefully)_ amazing. I cant wait to see how it all comes together..
this is my last ‘official’ trip to Munich .. on Aug 1.. I start my new job at MIT>. very excited about that.. though my attentions are all on finishing out my current assignment well.
Spent the day workign around the house.. still working to finish up the major house purge of last qweek.. and prep for our 150th year Sesquequecentenial birthday party for our house on July 27 https://www.facebook.com/events/241306480004728/
early evening Kate ellen. diane and I went over the app gap in search of food.. we ate at mad taco in waitsfield (good !)
then headed to Phantom Theatre in Warren.. It’s a cool old barn built from a sears and robuck kit back in the 20’s (I think) we’ve seen one other play there..
the play tonight was interesting.. a little bit of a downer.. but excellent acting.. it was called the Baby Dance put on by a very competitent company from NYC>
I remebered one strange fetature abot the building.. the owner Jim E did his masters in Arhcitecture at MIT. somehow that lead to their being several formerly MIT doors used in the building .. like this one fro building 3..
