Busy day… lots of folks still in town for AI week which is fun.. 

GOt this on my phoen earlier today.. I’m betting you did too.. whats that about ? 

 

tonight was super fun.. My freinds Amro, Afdam and Dave and I went outt o dinner at an indian placve near here I’m staying. They had a vindaloo challenge going.. the rules were pretty simple.. If you could eat this whole dish of vindaloo .. you got a free entree next time you cxme.. They’ve only hd one person succeed… .. but.. what the heck.. I like  hot food and love a challenge 

 

I had to sign a two page release.. and agree not to eat anything else on the table, not share my food and drink only water.. 

ok.. I can do that.. 

 

here’s the contract !

 

the food came.. and I told weveryoen I woulldn’t try to be a hero.. if I didn’t like it.. if it was too hot, whatever.. i’d gladdly give up and order soemthign else

 

 

funny things was.. it was delicious !>. I’m not  a great judge of spicey food.. I hevent really ever found anything I couldnt eat.. but this wast that hot at all.. .   it was super tasty !

 

 

it helped that I was really ungry too !

 

I enew it was sort of hot when my head began to sweat… always a sign of soemthing yummy !

 

afterwards thry brought me a lassie.. which was great.. it’s funny that whiole I can eat anythigns picey.. a glass of mil will put me on the floor wiht crmps.. but lassie an other fermented things dont have that effect..  (thats dave amd amro in the background) 

 

the returant folsk were so nivce.. they brought me a certificate and a cupon for a free entree.. .. and took my pitures. 

 

 

we walked back over to toscanini’s  for  goat cheese ice cream ! yume 

 

then said goodnght to amro and adam..

dog ate my homework last night. I fell asleep a about 2 AM without getting to blogging. It had been a long and interesting day. We had a greta day of talks and panels as paert of our AI Week here. Anantha C, the MIT Dean of engineering kicked us off

we heard form my boss Dario, my freinds Lisa and David.. .. 

 

 

There was a great keynote by Megan Smith, former CTO of the USA under Obama.. she covered a ton of stuff about engagin

the public around saloving problems in the world. She had soem great ideas about the role of STEAM in doign that engagement

 

 

one image she had really struck me .. this is about the rise of partisanship in voting over the years, 

 

we had a great panel on  ai bias and ethics lead by Joi Ito at the media lab.

after dinner we all ended up at Meadhall drinking  liter beers… \

 

which lead to us trying each others glasses. .. how do these look ? 

 

ruchir decided to stay over because there were tornadoes back in NY .. Luckily I ha a spare bedroom in the AIRBNB i’m renting this week.. so he stayed with me.. it was alike a slumber party !

 

today has been more meetings..  I had lunch with my friend Yael.. I found out she’s good friends  with my good friend Shmuel

Just finished a really nice event at the Mit – IBM Watson a high lab. We had more than 550 people come through here tonight… They ate it food cards Saad demos did competitions and played with my weird AI powered tesla coil. The event was really nicely run…

I loved letting people play with the demo I built… It’s kind a hard to explain but it was like a video theremin used tensor flow to recognize people poses and converted it into midi which drove my tesla coil

Beutiful fall day here. Very nice having Max and Becky here with us.. THey went off to a freinds wedding  while DIane, the dogs and I took a hike up honey hollow. 

 

not much color yet.. but a few trees turning 

 

then back home for the yearly ritural of putting up the windows.. Putting thme up isn’t as much a pane as cleanign them.. If they were all down I calculated that there are 684 glass surfaces  just  on our downstairs windows which needed cleaning. we havent done the inside ones yet.. and we didn’t take down the sotrms we left up all year to clean inside them.. so mercifully fewer than that to clean today.. but still lots of scrubbing .
