One of the things we hadn’t considered when we planned our vacation with mom this weekend is that it’s the weekend of the New York City Marathon. I was thinking that would be a big hassle because there were so many people and so many restrictions. Mile 26 was right in front of our hotel. Instead it turned out to be a really cool thing. Yesterday we saw a warm-up 5 km run. Today was the real deal. Around 1030 things started happening in front of the hotel. First came the elite wheelchair Competitors. They are absolutely amazing. It was very cool to see the different types of Riggs the used and the different types of muscle power they used to propel themselves. They were fast!
About 20 minutes later came the elite women… It was so exciting to watch the build up of them coming. We knew they were close when we saw a helicopter come up
The first woman… A Kenyan I think… Was more than 3 1/2 minutes ahead of her next competitor… She was running sub six minute miles after doing 26 of them.
About 20 minutes later came the elite man who I guess started later. There was a huge build up for them as well
As soon as the first three guys came I had to run from my train… I said goodbye to my mom my brother and my sister… It was a really great weekend.
I got to the train much quicker than I thought but it was good to get settled. Train ride back was uneventful… Got some good work done. Had a really nice seat mate
Now home and ready for bed. Funny thing is I didn’t remember anything about the timeshift. Bonus our… Where did I lose one?… Don’t know but glad to be home
Nite all, nite Sam
