Monday night – Mudita

Greetings from Cambridge. Super busy day getting down to and being in Cambridge. Nice dinner with my friend Hendrik to round things out.

Get back to the hotel around 10 PM to find good news from two of my friends. They both got promoted in their respective jobs. Both really big and well deserved promotions.… It made me so happy to hear in both cases

It got me thinking… What is the opposite of the word “schadenfreude”… The German word for taking pleasure in the missfortune of others.… There must be a word for taking pleasure in the joy of others…. And there is!

I thought that would be a 20 letter German word but I didn’t really find one .the best word I found was “Mudita” a Sanskrit word which means

Muditā (Pāli and Sanskrit: मुदिता) means joy; especially sympathetic or vicarious joy.

I invite you to take joy in the fact that I’m happy that I found that word!

Saturday night – I love my Tiles

We interrupt this blog to bring you an important message from our sponsor…

http://ssqt.co/meeKHKB

Not really… but I do want to sing the praises of a product that I’ve been using for several years. That I really believe it. I hope that’s not too crass… Please let me know if it is

Those who know me know that I lose things all the time… Keys, phones, jackets, backpacks, you name it. I’ve come to rely very heavily on little devices called Tiles they are little Bluetooth tags that work with a simple application to be able to locate things up to 300 m… For example if you can’t find your keys… You whip out your phone and push a button and your keys make a loud beeping sound… Which lead you to them. Conversely if you can’t find your phone but you have your keys you push her keys and it rings your phone. Pretty simple but very effective

They also have a very cool crowd sharing application that allows you to find things via other people who use the app. That’s help me find stuff far from home several times

These things have help me find my wallet in Kazakhstan my coat in Munich my backpack In Armonk, my keys countless times… It’s found keys under seats, in sofas, in the wash just in time… In the snow, in the woods… I can go on.I really can’t say enough good things about these thing

But then… They actually improved them. My one complaint about these devices is that they did not Have replaceable batteries… That meant every year you had to buy a new one which was both financially nasty and ecologically unacceptable. Today I got my brand new ones that have replaceable batteries. ! They are also louder and have longer range 300 m versus 50 m.

Now here’s the commercial part. I really think this is a good product… And I saw that if other people tried them out because of me… I can get more of them Through a referral program

I hesitated because that sounds like a pyramid scheme but I genuinely believe that your tiles will help you keep your Stuff From getting lost like they have saved me so many times

So please forgive me for doing this but . If you’re interested in trying these things go to the

http://ssqt.co/meeKHKB

and take a look . anyone who buys tiles through this link will earn me more tiles…

Bwahahah. They are my precious!!!

http://ssqt.co/meeKHKB

Again I apologize for participating in a marketing scheme like this but I really can’t get enough of theseAnd I truly think they will help you like they’ve helped me.

We now resume our normal programming…

Let me know if you think this was out of bounds to do

Friday night – familiar faces

Home again after a very quick and useful trip to Madrid.i just love that city and it’s people .

Got up early and took a run as it was getting light . Not easy running because of all the traffic but fun to see the city waking up.

Had to take a bus to the airport since all the taxis were on strike .. and all the Uber’s were bogged down trying to pick up the slack

I ran into a bunch of folks I knew in the airport .. this guy is met in Madrid before

And then i ran into my good friend Kim from Munich … and she was standing a few folks away from my good friend Iheoma . Both had been at the same conference Didier had been to .

The. On the plane .. which was probably loaded with folks from the same conference i ran into two guys who’s seen me talk in Poukeepsie .

Made me feel a little less far from home

Glad to be home now !
