Thursday night – UVM

Busy day today… Two intersections with the University of Vermont. I’ve been an adjunct there for many years and love my interactions.

Tonight ended up with beer and pizza with my friends Doug and Jeff Plotting how to save the world…

I like to think we made a little progress 🙂

Wednesday night – No easy mile

Diane and I just came back from a screening of a new movie called “no easy mile”. It’s about our good friend Phil who last year ran the entire 273 miles of the long trail to raise money and awareness for opioid addiction. He did that after he had seven friends who had died from the illness.… The screening was an arts riot and it was completely sold out. We got to talk to many friends there then got to see the really Amazing movie

The three person movie crew followed Phil on his 10 day run From the Canadian border to the Massachusetts border… (Minus a 6 week recovery from a torn quad). Phil took sponsorships and is trying to raise about $50,000 to support addiction recovery and sober houses in the state. He’s about halfway to his goal.

The Photography was really wonderful and you got to see Phil go literally through the ups and downs Of this grueling endurance run. That’s more than one Marathon every day.

After the movie there was a wonderful panel where Phil, the movie makers, and some local addiction supporters including the guy who ran sober houses in another recovery services guy as well as a woman who also hiked the trail to raise money.

The Lt Gov was on the panel too

Questions from the audience we’re good Lots of solidarity

It was a really inspiring night.

If you want to support show in his “enough is enough” mission to help recovering opioid attics here in the state please go here

Ps After the movie Phil told me that if you go back and watch it you can see the samstones in his pocket… He dropped them all across the trail

Tuesday night – untangling

I had a really fun day and Julia Massachusetts. Got there about 130 last night… This morning I went into the mass green high performance data center to help turn on the new Mit Citori super computer. I met my friends Fred, John and Jim there… They were working to install all the parts of the computer. Well it’s physically pretty small it is one of 500 most powerful computers on the planet… and very energy efficient.

I wanted to be there on the first day of operation so I could put a Samstone in one of the racks

I was able to make myself useful by helping Unbundle untangle a bunch of 30 m fiber optic cables

It was great getting to work with Fred and his team

Then came the moments to turn on the computer notes… It really sounds like a jet taking off… There’s so much air coming through those things. It was magical watching them come alive. I got to turn one on And so did Diane

My friends Dieter and Elpida were also there for another meeting with me and they even got to turn one on

Diane picked me up and we left there about 530… Nice to be home
