Busy day… Started with a task force meeting at the University of Vermont and then an IBM thanksgiving day lunch … As early as it was it was fun to see everybody. I hardly ever go to the local IBM these aus
Ron and I took a long walk… I visited all of my old offices. It was a fun trip down memory lane
Tonight we took Deb out for her birthday. It was super fun going out on a weeknight like that
We went to the Reservoir… Highlight was a gin and tonic with five straws
Instead of dessert we all went and walked around in the grocery store. Hot times in a small town
It was a cold and rainy day here today. Perfect day to sit around. Diane and I had a lot of fun just hanging out. We managed to get a lot done. Diane redid the pantry and front entranceway well I cleaned up my shop and installed new thermostats.
My shop is still covered with thermite pyrotechnics from something I did several months ago. I figured it was getting a little dangerous so I swabbed everything down
I also got some time in on the rework of the EL keyboard for my friend Mike.… Fun recreational programming.

When excitement of the day is that the wind blew a tree down across our neighbors fence. Women over and help them clean it up
Had to wake up this morning at 4 AM to get to the airport in Pittsburgh. Worked and slept all the way home remind me one day and pick me up at the airport and we went home, got dressed and headed out to Huyck Harringtons view. It’s one of our favorite hikes in the fall. It’s past leaf season here but it was still quite beautiful
Can’t remember doing anything else today… Oh wait we took another walk later in the day
That’s a pretty nice day… No?
One thing Diane pointed out is that tonight would be the night that we would’ve had our huge Halloween party in years past. We thought about that with a mix of relief… And that we didn’t need to destroy our house to pack 350 people in it… And maybe a tiny bit of nostalgia. Those were really fun parties…
Tonight is the opposite of that… I think I’m actually getting in bed before 9 PM 🙂
Great day in Pittsburgh yesterday. I was here for the first meeting at CMUECE advisory Council. Was a great group of folks… Many of them were old friends. We spent the day listening to the strategic plans and needs of the department. Most of us had graduated from there so it was a pleasure to give back. My friend larry did a fantastic job of Organizing the meeting… He’s been the department chair since March and is already made some really great changes.. One of my favorite parts of the days we got to tour through the building and see some of the new labs including a giant new maker space
After the meeting we all went to the Oaklander Hotel for drinks my advisor and good friend Rob showed up which was a treat
It was really great catching up with Larry and Leah. Leahs a writer and I got to hear about three books she hasn’t works. Each one takes about three years to write. That’s dedication!

Once everyone left I called my friend Mike Mike and his wife Laura are good friends of ours back 80s. Makes an art professor and pick… He came over for a drink and we caught up. We may actually be working on a new collaboration… Stay tuned
One other bonus is that This weekend was homecoming. I had an amazing fireworks in LaserShip right next to the hotel. It was unbelievable !
Ok.. Got to get on a plane to go home… More later today
