Today would’ve been my dad’s 89th birthday… Happy birthday Pa .. I miss you every day
Spent the day in meetings and talks today here in Singapore. It seemed a little cooler… Perhaps only 89° I think that that that may be an honor of my dad. I spent the day really enjoying air-conditioning
I have had it set a really interesting meetings today and gave two talks
Afterword I met up with my friend Prasad… Actually had never met before other than through email… He invited me to his home where he just moved a couple weeks ago from India who is here with his parents and his sister… Tonight is some sort of Hindu festival we’re supposed to eat with your parents so it’s kind of an honor to be there.
We had chapthi and Dahl
And I got to sample some of there wide collection of mango pickle
It turns out that today is also part of the Singaporean “ghost festival”… When Chinese trivet of Singaporeans put out special gifts to keep the ghosts from happening their houses. There were some pretty cool stuff out there
OK… Time for bed. I have an early flight tomorrow because my flight was delayed 13 hours today… Erg
Long and fun day. I had to stay up last night working to cut down my talk for today. We’ve been given a new time budget and it was pretty tight.
Had quite a few meetings with clients and IBM friends… And gave a talk to you about 2000 people. Went pretty well.It was so much fun meeting all these people
Things wound down around 7 o’clock… I decided to walk up even though it was still 85°. I took a shortcut through a very beautiful air-conditioned mall. It was completely full and very upscale stores
I wasn’t that hungry but I ran into some client friends… And sat down and got some shrimp buns And ate with them for a short bit
Then I walked Home in the thick blanket of warm air
Since we have got to go to sleep. I can hardly keep my eyes open. More tomorrow.
Very busy day today… Started with the run around the day. It was hot… But not Huston haut just very humid. It’s such a beautiful city
Breakfast of yellow tortillas… Then a ride with my good friend Mirek to the BBC for an interview with Sharon
Then a good part of the day at the Ibm building. I was able to see my friends Harriet, Deon and several other good friends that I just ran into in the building.
Gave it a talk in the afternoon to the research folks here. It was so fun meeting them. Then some stage practice for tomorrow’s talk
My friend ChangWoo was waiting for me… We walked back to the hotel (pretty hot even at 8 PM)…
The big plus was watching the light and laser show on the bay. It was amazing
