Sunday night – deep snow

It snowed all night… I think we’ve gotten about 2 feet by now. And the temperature has not gone above 3° today. It’s beautiful. We’re enjoying staying inside and going outside only to shovel.

The pile from the plow and our driveway is as tall as me. I remember the kids making snow forts out of these things… We crawl underneath and spend all day making tunnels.

We spent the day tinkering… I finished doing some work on my propane shooter to give it a little bit more safety and a longer quick release propane hose. I also finished a propane water heater to keep the tanks warm

We cleaned out the “old lab”… Which is one of the most his Storico rooms in our house. It’s been a kitchen, the pottery studio, a bedroom, a laboratory/workshop, a ski repair room, and now it is a huge historical archives. We managed to clean it out quite nicely today. No great fines but now the floor is clear!

Diane just finished making her first batch of kimchi… The house smells like a Korean restaurant which is pretty nice.

Now I’m going to go try to take a bath and get all relaxed but still stay up long enough to see the lunar eclipse… That’s at 11:30… Not sure what my odds are 🙂

Saturday night – Aztec gold

Super nice day hanging around the house. I got colder through the day . Here’s a moment where the temperature, the wind, and the sunlight or all exactly 0… (And the temperature inside was 666!)

I. Managed to get some work in on the flamethrower and now have a nice electronica control for it. Fixed a few things around the house and basically just hang out

One new addition is some great new linen sheetsAnd a linen duvet cover… At the recommendation of our friends show. They are extremely cozy…

Diane thinks the new bedspread reminds her of one of my lab coat that my friend. Gisli Gave me an Iceland a few months ago

Tonight we had a really nice dinner with her friends Alan, Jleigh… And our mutual friends Michael M, Denise andMichael J.

The evening started with a shot of Chilcuague. Which is also called “Aztec gold”. It was a smoky flavor nonalcoholic drink… But seconds after you drink it your mouth caught fire and you started sweating and salivating… It was the most amazing taste experience I’ve ever had. It’s designed to focus the appetite. Evidently it has all sorts of medicinal properties. Definitely unique… Like our hosts and their guests

Was a great evening… Interesting conversation, a wonderful meal and really excellent surroundings

By the time we all got up it was about 10 o’clock which is exactly when the parking ban goes into affect in Burlington because of the snowstorm. At the stroke of 10 there were two trucks everywhere pulling cars off the street. It looks like a license to hunt.

We drove home and read to because the roads were in pretty bad shape. Supposed to get as much is 2 feet of snow tonight and the temperature is dropping. It was -8 at one point of our trip home.

OK time for a long winters nap.

Friday night – to your health

High point of my day was my monthly meeting of the Vermont state AI task force. Today’s meeting was an excellent panel On local folks in the healthcare industry talking about the advantages and potential risks of artificial intelligence in their fields. It was really good. We had a pathologist, a hospital data scientist, and obstetric oncologist, a mathematician… I’ll basically talking about the advantages of ai. With some mentions of the precautions we need to take. I’m really enjoying this task force. Especially hearing from the public. Our goal is to advise the Vermont legislature on what to do if anything to maximize the benefits of artificial intelligence to the state and minimize the risks. And welcome to any suggestions from anywhere.

Thursday night – Honest mistakes

Interesting theme for the day. I’m finding that i’m making all sorts of mistakes recently..from spelling, to filing, to email faux pas …  they’re all small, they’re all unintentional  “honest” mistakes. Before you worry.. I am pretty sure that I’m not slipping mentally.. If anything, found that when I stopped commuting 6 timezones every other week my memory, focus and overall brain health  seems to have gone up…. (try me in scrabble 🙂

so.. what’s going on ? I’m not sure if I’m actually  making more mistakes.. or I’m just noticing them more.. One factor is my new line of work.. . I’m used to knowing what I’m doing more.. now I’m in a new field, new people, new location, ven after 5 months, I still don’t know all the people in my new network, I don’t yet know the policies or practices.. or for that matter the personalities.

The funny thing is.. the only person who gets made at me for these goofs  is me !  I think the answers here are pretty clear.. a) spend a little more time checking and rechecking my work.. and b) forgive myself  more when it happens.

easier said than done on both counts.
