Today I met one of my Dr brothers. No… I don’t mean my brother Dr. ( billy). I mean someone who had the same PhD advisor as I did The eminent… And always fun Prof. Rob Rutenbar… I use the term “Dr.which I made it up. Because At least in German your PhD advisor is your “doctor father” (Doktorvater)… Or your “Dr. mother” (Doktormutter)

It’s a growing club.I think around 35 people… But today I met a new one… Glen K Is currently a postdoc at Harvard. We met up for a couple of beers just to get to know one another and talk about Rob… It was Really fun talking to him. I think we even found an interesting area to collaborate on
Finally back home after about nine days away. Diane’s been has been gone for more than 2 weeks. Hunter picked us up at the airport… So nice to see him and the dogs. He had ‘Kyle take such great care of the house and Doggies. We really appreciate it.
This morning was nice and slow. Max and Becky came and picked us up at 10 o’clock and drove us the hour drive into Albuquerque. It’s been a really good Visit… We help them get a lot done… And also had some fun. Man I love visiting Santa Fe. Aside from seeing Max and Becky…The weather and the food are absolutely amazing ! … The drive to the airport was nice. We got a picture of ourselves in the shiny back of a fuel truck
We got to the airport in enough time that we could grab a bite. I had just bitten into my burrito when a guy came up to me and asked me if I was me…… It was Brian Jamieson And his wife. Brian was my next-door neighbor from 1966 through 1981 in Houston.
He recognized me which is amazing because he looks just like he used to… For some reason I don’t think I do :-)
Our backyards but it up to each other. He was one of my heroes back in the day… He was two years older than I wasAnd he always included me and and all the stuff he did at school. I remember in elementary school he was kind of big man on campus. We had a great time Catching up about the secret club we had created when we were about seven or eight years old (“oomph”… And the resurrection which was called “the secret light of oomph”) We also talked about his brothers…His younger brother Bruce is still good friends with Billy… He and his wife came up and visited us here in Vermont. His older brother Jay and I hadn’t talked in a very long time but I spoke with him a few years ago when sadly his daughter suddenly passed away.
Today was our last full day here in Santa Fe. We decided to take it off a little bit and enjoy some downtime. We walked from Max and Becky’s over to the railyard. It has a great farmers market
We wandered around and ate some great pupusa’s
Funny to see this sign ’violet’… the name of our grand dog
I spent the rest of the day working around the house. Diane Max and Becky worked in the yard while I obsessively finish sorting their tools and components and labeling each drawer. I know that doesn’t sound like me but I found that labeling all of my electronica components has lasted me for 20 years and try to keep some someone’s of order. I hope it does the same for them
Spent a lot of time with GabÉ by phone this evening trying to help him get his phone set up… What a frustration. He’s kind of freaked out that one of the coronavirus instance in the United States was it near Portland. His grad school might actually be shut down this week.
Hoping that all works out OK… OK or from the road tomorrow
