Sunday night- Dog days

Man… This is the dog days of summer..It was 92 here today… It’s still almost 80° in our house.… That’s why I’m sleeping over in the yoga space nestled up against our air conditioner.

I spent almost all of the day in this air-conditioned space… Other than a couple of doggy walks… And a run Diane . It was actually pretty satisfying. I got a lot done. ‘Diane and I filled out our absentee ballots which was really fun doing our civic duty at home.

Out friends Josh and Chess have just moved back to Vermont and they came by for a little bit. We were able to catch up with them in a socially distant way..

We got to watch from air condition coolness as our friends Aaron and Ashley’s daughter her in the head in the backyard. I didn’t invite her out there in that heat.… Later in the day we watched some huge vultures looking through what tasty bits might’ve been exposed by the Haying

Late in the day I was surprised to see this beautiful grasshopper on the window. It’s so cool Getting to look at him so closeLu

Then we took a nice walk with the dogs to see flipping flappy… Tim and Marie were there feeding them which was a treat. Diane brought some oats for them to eat as well

It’s almost 2 AM… I spent a lot of time working with my brother today on a project. So much fun!

Now I got a sleep.

Gabe takes his PhD Quals tomorrow… Wish him luck.

Saturday night – Comet party

It was a really hot day today. I managed to get a run in but by afternoon it was well into the 90s.… The road outside our house is getting increasingly busy as people go to swim in either the Winooski or Huntington… There were 25 cars there today On both sides of the road. People were parking in our neighbors yard

I spent the day puttering in my air-conditioned shop… Because it was too hot to go outside. Later this evening we headed up to Tim and jens for a socially distant cook out . I

We got to celebrate our dear friend Martha’s birthday !

We wanted to stretch the night out so that we could all see the comet… Before that showed up the firing range in Jericho gave us a display of aerial flares. We pretended they were for MARTHA’s birthday

About 10 o’clock it was dark enough to clearly see, Neil Waze… It was so cool. You could actually see it with your bare eyes as long as you didn’t stare at it directly. With telescopes it was pretty easy to see. Sorry I couldn’t get any pictures of that. But I did get a picture of us looking. I guess the flash this shot messed up everybody’s vision for a couple of minutes

It was so cool seeing something that until last March no one knew existed. It’s going to come back in about 7000 years so I figured this was as good a time as any to try to catch it.

More tomorrow. Stay cool everybody

Friday night – hay now

Today was a big day in Jonesville… They had the field across from us and behind us… I have mixed feelings about that because a)that’s where all the Great fire flies were and b) It invites even more people to park in front of our house to go to the river. I’m really happy people want to go to the river but on a weekend day they will be 25 cars parked in our front yard right across the street. It really kind of takes away from the peace of the neighborhood… But more than that it’s incredibly dangerous people are swerving and swearing and beeping and honking

Anyway… It was fun to watch them hey I think it was my friend Ashley doing it

Speaking of which… It’s time for me to hit the hay
