Saturday night – we voted!

The big event for the day is that ‘Diane and I both Filled in our mail in ballots…

We were amazed to see how many people were actually running for president.… Kanye West? Really… And the boiling frog party ?!

Please stop right now and go fill in your ballot and get it in the mail. We’ve got to change the course the country is on. And your vote matters

Otherwise it was a quiet day

The day started out rainy but turned beautiful. Diane and I did a 6 mile hike in Huntington at Trapp Road onto catamount Trail and then up to a pond that we bushwhacked up towards. I really enjoyed being out in the fall foliage Last night the area because it’s for snow.… Camels hump was covered in snow I will probably stay that way until May

Ok time for a bath !

Thursday night – Leaving day

The day began very early. Max and Becky had a 7:30 AM flight out… I woke up at 5:30 to help them get out of the house. It’s been so great seeing them

I managed to get back to sleep and manage to sleep until 930!… Diane had already been out to Boot Camp and back by the time I woke up.… We took GabÉ and Sammantha to meet their flight around 12

It has been a really great visit from both boys and their partners.… It was very sad saying goodbye to try… So it was really nice to be able to do it all together. I know she felt loved. We were so grateful to be able to spend that time with our family. We’re going to quarantine now for a while and then get Covid tests

After dropping off GabÉ and Sammantha, Diane and I headed out for a hike in a beautiful fall weather. We knew it would be a little weird going home to an empty house… With no kids and no dogs so we went to our happy place which was outdoors

We took a Really beautiful seven Mile hike around Little River State Park… We took hedgehog hill… Which reminded us of Satori’s Favorite toy “Hedgy” Then I Rick or mountain back to Kelty corners and then up around the daily loop it was gorgeous and it was very good for our souls

We just finished watching parts of both of the presidential candidates Townhall. What a circus… I’m actually Happy to see Biden be so approachable. I like him a lot

OK… Enough for now. Time to sleep

Wednesday night (delayed) – after Chai

Posting this on Thursday night because I really didn’t feel like writing yesterday.… On Wednesday we concentrated on remembering our doggies… And enjoying a day together.

I have some additional Pictures From Tuesday night. We had planned to get together for Latkes ..But we weren’t feeling like that. We had gone out apple picking after Chai passed And it had a “dreamy”… Which was at cider doughnut with maple ice cream. We were all pretty full. So we ordered sushi.

We got a birthday ice cream and celebrated… I know it’s strange… chai’s 17th birthday which had been the day before… Also the day she died. It felt both good and kind of weird to be celebrating our two doggie girls Without them…

We toasted them all night long

Before even went to bed we also did one other thing from the list. Mason helped us so open the sheet rock under the front stairs. We knew it had been wild off at the same time at the ghost room upstairs Which we believe was 1976… And we were very interested to see what was in it

To a great surprise… The only thing was in there was a bag full of well preserved cloth scraps.… Like something a quilter might have.

We went to bed… I slept soundly. I woke up really sad a few times… But the whole house felt peaceful in the morning. Diane made popovers… Then we all picked up Bolton… ‘Diane and I have been doing this for the last several months every Wednesday. It was Really nice to have the boys and their partners with us. Our friend Sumner hiked with us as well

I got the obligatory propeller head pictures

We took preacher devils playground down… And GabÉ was able to find the old tee pee that Eric and some of our other friends have made there. That long since collapse but it was really fun to see these things still around

In the afternoon we went over to chris and Kim’s to see them

Last night we crammed in a few more holidays. Earlier in the week we had celebrated Halloween and Thanksgiving… Tonight we celebrated Hanukkah by lighting the candles and making some like us. We also had a cake for Chai and Satori

And pop two bottles of champagne to celebrate New Year’s

Finally we did our last Halloween tradition which was to go decorate a tree outside with stable bagels and donuts for the animals. Instead of going deep into the woods we went over to the river which transitory love so much. We saw some wonderful shooting stars while we were out there… Messages for our girls

Definitely a bittersweet day… with lots of love going around
