Sunday night- other roads

Dan and I were both feeling still a little under the weather from our shingles shots… But we knew we’d feel better if we got outside. Today we decided to take the catamount Trail East from Bolton Notch Road.… We’ve known the trail was there but we never found it. Pleasant surprise it was a really beautiful wide trail with no one on it save the tracks a loan deer and some sort of big dog like creature…

The catamount trail shares some of its route with the VAST (Vermont Association of snow travelers) Snowmobile trails.… Well it’s not always peaceful to be hiking or skiing or snow mobiles… We certainly appreciate the care they put into putting these trails in and maintaining them.… We walked about 2 1/2 miles into the woods and it’s always surprising to see the road signs at the intersection of these trails.

It’s truly a parallel highway system in our state that’s only accessible on skis or snow machines… I always think of it like our lymphatic system… The more invisible cousin of our arteries and veins.…

One thing we noticed at one of the ‘major’ Intersections (if you can call it a major intersection when the only person passing through it in the last three days with us)… Was this bin full of trash… It’s interesting to note that it’s all beer cans… Makes you want to be really really careful when you’re out here during active Snowmobile season
