Wednesday night – open mic

Busy day today… Work meetings just trying to get the year kicked off.

Around 430 I had to do a favor for my neighbors. I had to go pick up 5 year old Francesca at her ballet school In Richmond… Her dad was having ACL surgery and his mom was there in the hospital with him.Walking into that ballet place was amazing. I’ve never been around that many little girls in pink.

It was funny trying to figure out which one was Francesca… Actually she Found me… We had a lot of fun at our house. We colored… Made things out of pipe cleaners… And shocked our visitors for the Van de Graaff generator

Around seven Nate and Sid and I went to Stone corral for open mic night. The only person that I knew there was Avery and Lena who were there to see us… And our friend Gary

Nate played a couple of songs and so did Sid

That was it for today… More tomorrow!

Tuesday night – stones throw

Super busy day here at the house. The year has completely started work wise.

Catcher around six I got out of my work jammies and put on some real clothes including my chai and satori socks

Hunter and I headed towards Richmond around 6 PM and picked up Kyle at work. Our destination was Stones Throw… The new pizza restaurant where on the rise, Parkside and one radish used to be. This building has played big in our lives and the last decade. It’s great to see it re-opening… There were Close to 100 people jammed in there tonight… Eating free pizza and drinking beer. The pizza was really good

The one momentarily sad thing I saw there is that they had dismantled the giant stone hearth that had always been there when it was on the rise. But it always been special to me because we built a sandstone into it when it went up.… Midway through the night Rachel Bush came up to me and said don’t be sad… They had actually taken the stone chimney down and reassembled it… Sam stone included… At their house. It was so great to hear!

We wish the owners of Stone’s throw all the best luck. I hope it becomes the happy hang out at on the rise was

Monday night – Scott’s treatment

Today was the first work day Of the new year… And the first day of my new work arrangement with Ibm. As of today I work 75% for my Mit job and 25% doing outreach with students here in Vermont and around the world. I’m trying that as an alternative to retiring which had been my plan for the beginning of this year. I’m really excited about putting more energy into the thing that I love doing the most… Which is getting students and other people excited about technology and science

It’s going to be an interesting experiment…I’m trying to make sure that I don’t end up just doing 125% of what I was doing before.

I’m very excited about it…!

Today was a busy workday…

It began in an unusual way when I was walking the dogs early this morning I looked around and saw a small dog chasing us… Then I realized it was actually a fox. As soon as I turned around and ran the other way… Unfortunately I didn’t get a picture but it was a full-grown healthy Fox… It was so beautiful… And so strange to see it out in daylight. We’ve had rabid foxes around here but I think this one was healthy

I did take several hours off to go hang out with my friend Scott who’s going through chemo for pancreatic cancer. Here are his shoes

I Have so much respect for Scott and his with attitude about the whole thing. He and his daughter Veronica and I sat together for a couple hours… We mostly talked science stuff.

Scott has always been my mentor in all things high-voltage and hands-on. He built or help me build most of the display equipment that I use for my roadshows.…

As soon as he was done With the treatment today I drove him back to his house in the north end… And we hooked up a new high-voltage generator that I had just bought.

Scott and I are looking for fun stuff to do while he works his way through this crazy disease

Let’s all wish him comfort in luck!

Sunday night – happy birthday satori!

So nice to be home!… Kaelyn Hunter pick me up around 530 at the airport… I got home in time to wish satori a happy 12th birthday!… Our little girl is a grown-up now. Both dogs were so happy to see me… It made me feel good. I even had my satori socks on that Gade gave me for her birthday

I made her a little cake Made out of peanut butter with 12 small American cheese candles… She ate it all up. Sister Tcharli just looked on… She didn’t want anything to do with it :-)

Afterwards I went up to a nice dinner at Jen and Tim’s house. Nate and Sid are in town and Marie was there as well as Kevin and Tim’s brother’s family. It was super nice

Now I’m jumping in the bathtub to wash off all that travel. More tomorrow!

That was a great vacation… And it’sNice to be home!
