Friday night – peaches en regalia

Diane and I just watched “Zappa”

(https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/zappa_2020). A 2020 movie about the life of Frank Zappa. One of my favorite musicians.it’s a two hour movie directed by Alex winter and coproduced by Ahmet Zappa, frank’s son

Frank Died in 1993 of prostate cancer. he Was an amazing and unusual musician that I listened to all through high school and college… Totally love this music. It kind of combined really amazing jazz rock with crazy stories. The funny thing is I’m not really a jazz fan… But for Frank I was

Check out “peaches and regalia”

The movie turned me onto a lot of Zappos classical music. I’ve heard some of it but I didn’t know how much he had done of it and how involved he was. It also covered his work to protect freedom of speech during the late 80s early 90s when folks in Congress were trying to ban music with the explicit lyrics

If you’re Zappa fan… I totally recommend the movie if you’re not a Zappa fan… Give it a try… Who knows?

Thursday night- theee hobbies

I had the pleasure today of talking to my old friend and one time boss harriet G. Harriet used to be the General Manager of the division I worked in during my previous job. In addition to being a fun and demanding boss she became my trusted friend and mentor . Harriet retired from ibm and moved from Singapore back to England just before covid hit . We’d kept in touch by email but Hade my spoken since then. Today we had a good long catch up.. it was great to see her .. she’s as busy as ever despite the lock down and her advice to me was spot on and just what I needed to hear . She’s quite an inspiration .

She has a new web page https://harrietgreen.com that’s fun to look through.

One thing I found there was this

I gotta work on those 3 hobbies !

Wednesday night – father’s forever

Just off a call with my father’s forever group. It’s a group of dads who have had children who died. I know t sounds weird.. bit I really love these meetings . It’s really good to be able to trade stories with folks with this very hard experience. We trade stories about our kids both living and dead.. trade stories sad and funny stories ( there really are family stories)

We talked today about how we answer the question ‘how many kids do you have’ .. and what to say to someone who expalins they didn’t bring up Your kids name because they “didn’t wanna remind you”…

It’s actually really nice to have people you can talk to you like that.

It’s hard when we get a new member… But it feels like a Great service when we can help them in small way with something that really can’t be helped

Thanks to my FF friends for being there for me and for each other .

Tuesday night –

Happy birthday to me!… Today was my 62nd birthday and it was really wonderful.

I’m very happy to be where I am in life right now. I love my family… I love my community… Can’t ask for much more than that.…

Diane and I Began the day with a 5 mile loop up Bamforth Ridge and then bushwhacked half a mile down towards Gleason Brook. It was sky high snow so it was quite a workout… Really beautiful

Amazingly we were the only ones on the entire mountain for the whole 4.5 hits of our hike

Later in the day I went into town to pick up some plumbing parts and sushi for dinner… I also stop bye Chris and Kim’s… It’s not nice to be out even if I had to keep my distance

When I got home Dianne and ‘Kyle and decorated the place with streamers and put the house lights into “party mode” we’re all the electronica lights are blinking different colors super fun
