Saturday night Hag sameach

Happy Passover everybody… We actually made a tiny satyr but it was a pretty perfunctory effort because I had a project I need to get done.

I did drop in to the Patzes Uberzoom Seder

The really big news for the day is that Diane got her first Covid vaccine shot… She had to drive all the way up to Mooresville to get it. Believe it or not I have to drive up there tomorrow to get mine. I know we’re not completely out of the woods yet but this is such a great step. Here’s a balloon ‘Diane saw while waiting in line for her shot

Friday night – Full day

I had a remarkably full day today… Busy morning… And ‘Diane and I headed up to Saint Albans to buy a new car. We traded in our Prius prime for a RAV4 prime… Both were hybrid electric… The RAV4 has more space and it’s four-wheel-drive and has a longer battery range. We’ve been waiting for it for a couple of months. So far we really like it!

Ironically we were signing papers right in the middle of an event that was part of our hackathon with the Clinton global initiative and ‘Howard and Spelman university’s. It was a one on one conversation with former President Clinton and vice president Harris.… I managed to turn it on on my phone under the table while we were signing the purchase papers and get a few pictures

Well I didn’t get it interact directly with either of them… A panel discussion I moderated with the UN assistant secretary general for disaster relief was part of the same agenda today.… I’ll have to go back and watch both of those to see how it came out.

Anyway we bought the car… And had to say goodbye to the old car. I’d like that car… But I never gave it a name. Long may she run

Tonight I had a virtual event for a group of40 Girl Scouts down in Madison Valley New York. I did a short interactive presentation about the vermin the musical theremin device that me and my friend Va created http://ibm.biz/veremin

The event was really fun it was created by my friend Jennifer

I have a crazy backlog of work I’ve got to get done this weekend… So I better get some sleep

Wednesday night – call for code

I’m starting to spend more time at work on a project called “call for code”… It’s a nonprofit group that encourages people to use their technology skills for good. They run worldwide hackathons on topics around climate, water rights, racial justice and mental health. Ibm is the major corporate sponsor but not the only one. They’re also sponsored by a number of other companies and the Clinton global initiative, the United Nations, and Lennox foundation. I’m helping with the kick off event this weekend which is a three day hackathon with historically black universities such as ‘Howard and Spellman and a group of worldwide participants. Yesterday I had a real pleasure of moderating a panel between United Nations assistant secretary general for Disaster Resilance Mami Mizori and my friend Ibm Director of racial equity Dr. Stacey Hobson. We talked about the intersection of racial justice and climate change.… It was a really good conversation and it will be aired this weekend. Today I got to watch a live conversation between former President Bill Clinton and Stacey Abrams from Georgia. They were both really amazing. Unfortunately I only got pictures of Clinton… Can’t find my Abrams pictures

On Sunday were being joined by vice president Harris for her closing remarks… That’s going to be so cool! I’ll let you know about that

more tomorrow
