Tuesday night – retired?

I couldn’t resist that title . OK… I don’t mean retire like that!… I just mean that I got back from vacation last night and the first thing I had to do was get a tire replaced on her RAV4… The day before I left for vacation it blew out on the highway. Turns out it had a serious puncture. I had to drive up on the tiny spare all the way up to Saint Albans… Almost an hour driving the back roads because I didn’t want to get on the interstate with the tiny Replacement tire. Anyway I got a new tire… So I guess technically I am re-tired

Monday night – home again

Today both ‘Diane and I travel. I came back to Vermont and Dianne went on to gabe’s to meet his new puppy “nova”… She’s going out to help with some of the puppy training… I’m back here for some much-needed catch up on work both at work work and at home

I had a great travel day back… Caught up on a ton of email and thought a lot about our vacation. It was really a nice time. It was nice having all that time with Max… Being able to see Becky… And to help on their house. We help with so many projects… Here’s just a quick list that I can remember:

  • Diane did a ton of work in the garden
  • We installed a new kitchen faucet
  • We installed a new dishwasher
  • We installed a water softener
  • We created a new Fossett on the outside of the house
  • We completely cleared up and sorted there a tire shop… (Inspires me to do the same on mine which was even in worse shape)
  • We help Max build an automatic chicken waterer
  • We cleaned out the garage
  • We set up a new gas grill
  • We installed a can crusher
  • We cleared out their front porch
  • We built a new cabinet and coat rack in the porch
  • We painted and varnished the bench that Becky had made
  • We helped them hang the bench
  • We washed all the carpets in the porch
  • We wash most of the windows
  • We installed an icemaker connection for the fridge and freezer
  • Diane cleared out the garden room
  • Reinstalled sunshades on most of the gardens
  • … And a whole bunch of other things which I’m sure I’m forgetting

It was just great all hanging out together… We worked hard and we Played a bunch two

It was great seeing where Max and Becky are their lives I’m happy to be home… Missing Diane Already

Sunday night (delayed) – them !

Today we got the hiking that we had planned for Saturday. We went down grasshopper Canyon which was this beautiful deeply carved can you walk that ended in some really cool pools. It was nice and cool and super interesting from the standpoint of the rocks and plants

When we came home we finished off the bench that Becky had made… Max had welded up some brackets and we hung them in the front porch. It’s really beautiful and comfortable

This was our last night all together so we decided to do something really special. We watched a mutant insect Horror movie from 1954 called “them!)” .It was about some mutant ants that have been zapped by the first atomic bomb test just south of Albuquerque New Mexico… The first part of the movie was all about New Mexico…

Then two of the mutant queens escaped… One ended up in Los Angeles underneath the streets… Wouldn’t you know it was the sixth Street aqueduct… Which is exactly where we got our water every week for the colony. It was literally 200 yards from where we stand.… It was really cool seeing the same scenes that we knew from a few years ago from almost 60 years ago.

Here’s a mess… The six street aqueduct is on the lower left… 615 Anderson where we lived for two months is directly across the river on the right

What a great stay!

Really nice vacation

Saturday night (delayed) – bugs !

This was the first full day that Becky was home… So we made plans to go for a hike… Unfortunately mother nature didn’t agree and there was a huge thunderstorm in the morning. That’s canceled our plans for a hike… But we made up for it by looking in atlas Obscura… That pointed out this great bug museum that was actually in an old Mall. Approved to be really amazing. It is the private collection of two people who came together with almost 5000 really beautifully preserved insects and a bunch of live ones too

The curator was there and he even let us handle summer these wonderfully creepy critters

We went home and found this amazing hummingbird moth Right in Max in Becky’s front yard

o

That night we had a nice gathering of a bunch of Max and Becky’s meow Wolf friends… It was really nice… We had margaritas a fire… And it was very very cool to see the Street lights theough the smoke

It was that kind of party :-)
